For anyone in Toronto or the surrounding area...

Just went to Jeremy's - the Saab Specialist - on Queen Street East. Great guy who saved me a ton.

I had a 60,000 mile service done at the dealer (another MISTAKE, the subject of other forums on DIY... don't recommend dealer for this service as you can save a ton on all the fluid changes if you DIY) but they couldn't do the alignment due to a seized tierod adjuster.

Their quote - 3 hours labour plus alignment. $379 plus tax!!! WHATEVER!

Took it to Jeremy... he freed the tierod in under an hour and did the alignment for just over $100. Told me in advance what he could do, how he would do it, and was very direct and courteous in the shop.

A good mechanic specializing in Saabs, for a great (honest) price.

I have several mechanics I deal with in TO depending on the job. I even have a few of them competing for my business. One place quoted me 1100+ (and others that were closer to 2k that I wont get into) for the clutch, and I ended up having it done for 900 flat (needed the flywheel machined and all!).

Who did that?

I had mine done about 18 months ago and the best price I could find was through GB Autos and that was $1200 without the flywheel being done!

I have only had the alignment done, but have had a report from a colleague about a brake job.

The website is www.thesaabspecialist.com and he is at 261 Queen Street East, just east of Sherbourne on the south side next to a two-story body shop. A good fella - his wife runs the office.
