Greetings To All
I am wondering if anybody here has swapped an automatic out of a '92 900S, 4 cyl., and replaced it with a 5 speed manual? If so, could you share your insight gained from experience, if not could you share what the critical issues were that stopped you.
Kindest regards.

Welcome.

You'll want to look at this write up:
http://www.saabnet.com/sites/900conversion/

And you'll want to search the board for 'automatic transmission' 'manual conversion' and a bunch more combinations to find some of the experiences of others.

Get the Bentley shop manual!!!

Perfect, thanks.

Do you have a recommendation for where to purchase the Bentley shop manual?

Ron

Model Mixing

Howdy Again
As I mentioned previously I am looking at a '92 900S as the base for this conversion. I now have found a 9000 with a 5 speed that might be an affordable doner car. The 900Conver.pdf file is VERY helpful but it specifically states that the doner transmission should be from a 99 or 900 up through '93. Is the 9000 a completly different engine/transmission configuration? And is there any history of adapting a 9000 drive train in a 900?
Sorry to be so uninformed, but this has really got my creative juices flowing.:D
Thanks
Ron

I figured as much. So to accomplish this, one should plan to replace and re-mount just about everything between the wheel centers? YUCK:roll:

No.

;)

I did read of someone in Finland doing it once, but it took a few years.
Ummmm, YEARS? I wonder if that was because of other distractions?
