Very fed up - lovely `new` `96 Griffin purchased to replace my `97 version with high miles & things to fix, and 500 miles later horrific knocking - must be big end(s).
I did think the `bottom end` was one of the strengths of this engine & @ 120k miles thought it would be most unlikely. No indication when purchased - then yesterday thought I heard something wrong, radio off to listen, rapid increase in noise, oil light....
- can`t bear to hear it rattling, in for investigation next week.
I`m wondering what the chances are of getting away with just new bearing shells - is a crank regrind inevitable?
If you`ve suffered the same could do with some advice or your experience.
Thanks, Julian
