I'm finding that the batteries in my keyless entry remotes are dying at a very fast rate.....every couple of months it seems. They also dont seem to work more then 15-20 feet away from the car.

First is that distance normal for that particular year car? I bought used, and it's the only way it's ever been. Perhaps the remotes need reprogramming or something.

secondly, is the battery life of the remotes fairly on par with other owners?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Cheers

I use the same remotes (complete with a SAAB part number!) for one of my Jaguars, have the same problem with distance so I suspect the problem is inherent in the remote itself.

Come to think of it, the remotes for my SAABs really don't have any distance to them either

I've not had the same battery issue though.

Yea, it's crazy, but OEM remotes for my wife's Jaguar are over $100 used (if you can find them), the SAAB ones run $20 and work like a champ, just have to flip the rubber buttons around, the lock and unlock buttons are reversed on the Jaguar. Hey, who care's if the icons on the buttons are upside down?

Remote control internal corrosion.
It may feel warm to the touch.
These remotes live in a dirty/corrosive environment.
But the fix, other than all new is ????
