Greetings,
Newbie here. Am wondering if it is possible to replace the ignition key switch or to just simply remove it without pulling the shift lever hub completely off. Ignition switch is now reamed and spinning freely and no longer switches power on and off. Thanks!

Tips

It sounds like the tongue on the base of your ignition barrell has snapped or the ignition barrell has just given up.

On the side of the shifter assembley (Passengers side for RH drive) is a plug that you will probably have to drill out to gain access to the retainer inside the hole that locks the ignitional barrell in place
(If the ignition barrell has previously been replaced you will see a hole)
(If your car is RH drive you may want to remove the passenger side seat to gain access)

Inside the hole you will find a spring type loaded pin that you need to push in with the ignition key located in the accessory position, you can feel the locator push in and then you need to pull on the barrell and the barrell should come free from the shifter assembley
(make sure the key is located in the accessory position)

If the barrell is not broken off, you should be able to slide a replacement key & barell into place.

Cheers ...
