Good luck with it, I've dealt with the iron cancer in the past and it's not fun.

We have none of this kind of stuff out here in CA. In fact for the amount you're going to put into the car I can probably find you a dead car with no rust and have it shipped to you. I just finished a 2001 Aero wagon for my son that had a blown engine. used the engine out of his car and it's on the road and the body is in great shape. After selling stuff I'm into the car for a total of about $400.

Shame I didn't see these posts before I junked the 99 sedan. I could have grabbed the plasma cutter and cut out a bunch of stuff for you. I don't think the junkyard would have cared if it had a bunch of holes in it!

As an example:

If it runs enough to get it on and off the truck it'll cost you $700 to ship it. Costs more if it can't be driven onto the truck.

BTW, don't use sandblasting. It's too fine, will rip up sheet metal and gets everywhere (including places where you don't want it)

Use some other kind of larger media like walnut shells, which work just as well but don't damage nearly as much.

Unless you are laying down lacquer you don't want ridiculously thin coats, you want a pretty good wet coat. Something's wrong with the mixing.

and if you don't put a good wet coat down, you're going to have a lot of over spray that is more like a powder than anything else, and that'll sit in the previous wet stuff and make a mess.

What are you painting with? is it a 2-part water based or something else?

Wish you I would have known you were in need of an '02 wiring harness. I have one laying around in a box somewhere that I couldn't find when I got rid of almost all of my spare parts to a local Saab guy. Oh well.

Glad to see you're back on the project. Even though I just come here infrequently it's fun to watch

BTW, I had a Bluesaab a while back, the hard wired one. Worked great with good steering wheel controls. They had a website on blogspot that had the latest software and how to load it. You'll need to get the CD changer adapter unless your car is a '99 which shipped with it. I think eeuroparts still sells it.

no idea if the guy who did that thing is even active anymore. (I ended up putting a Pioneer AVIC into my dash so I got rid of the Bluesaab. )
