Definitely a noob here but I have been scouring forums to see if anyone is having a similar problembut have not come across it yet.

I currently have the AS3 with 9 speakers on my 9-5 sedan and noticed recently that the two 6x9 subs in the back have stopped playing music. However, they will occasionally "bump" when playing music with quite a bit of bass. Nothing more that that though. I remember hearing them struggle a bit previously, but now that there is no sound at all coming out of them, it has me worried that it may be a bit more of an involved solution than simply changing out the speakers.

Could someone point me in the right direction? I am no electrician by any stretch, but am intuitive enough to give something a good checkthrough to make sure things are in order, as long as I know what I am looking for. From what I have read, it sounds like there may be a separate amp for the rear sub speakers but I do not know where to look for either. If it is a problem with the amp that I may be able to fix on my own, it would be favorable over taking it to a sound specialist, and would also be a learning experience.

Any and all help to get me started in the right direction is appreciated!

Ivan. Thank for responding. If you mean tears in the speakers, I have taken a look and they both appear to be in decent shape.

Both of mine looked fine, but were completely dead & would not make a sound. A simple test would be to use a multimeter and see if the speakers are getting signal (voltage will vary). If yes, speakers are bad, replace (I used Infiniti 6x9s).

If you aren't getting signal, look into the amp.

Hello did you ever figure out this problem? I believe I'm having the same issue in my 2004 9-3. I drove with my wife to AZ and I flew back home, and she drove home later. When she came back with my car it seemed like the sound/bass stopped working.
I'm wondering how this can be fixed.
