Hi guys,

I wonder... anyone tried to see and measure the max (real) speed of a 300bhp 9-5 aero :cheesy: ?

I tried some 200+ speeds but did not have the time (or distance...) to see how far can it go! And I also have my winter tires so I did not push it very hard...

Thanks

Honestly, I don't believe it will go up to 275 kmh. I guess something like 240 or a bot more is feasible, the airflow is not good enough to get to 275 kmh with 300 hp.

155 mph is far from 275 kmh, you need a lot of power to get there, remember the old x to the power of 3 formulla's from school, that whats the engine has to deal with.

according to my math with stock tires(225/45/17) and the stock rev limiter(6000rpm) top speed is 168.8mph. So moving the limiter back to 6400 or more(which I believe the tuners do) would allow 170mph.

final drive ratio X 5th gear ratio: 4.05 x .66 = 2.673:1 absolute final drive ratio
rolling diameter of 25.27 inches: (((225 x .45 x 2)/24.5) + 17)
mph = (rpm x rolling diameter) / (gear ratio x 336)

6000 x 25.27 = 151620
2.673 x 336 = 898.128
151620 / 898.128 = 168.81mph

=252kmh?
When the speedometer is set with TECH for propper tyre size are the readings acurate?
I've seen it show over 240 kmh-is it real? Are the ECU limited by revs or by speed? If 2.0 l is able to reach 250 2.3 should reach bit more?
Here is photo of my friend 9-3 speed:

Hi,

What I can tell is that the 9-5 I got, after the Hirsch upgrade, does NOT have a rev limit so I can easily pass over the red line (which is at 6000 rpm...).

I know that because I am able to get over the 100Kph without having to change the 2nd gear  to the 3rd...!

Is that normal on Saab's or is a result of the upgrade?

And also... the Hirsch guys are saying that after the upgrade you can run sustained at 260Kph speed!

I am only wondering if this is marketing or reality :cheesy: !

I can go to 115 Kph in 2nd before i hit stock fuel cut off (6000 RPM) im my 9000

Probly how i destroyed my piston rings tho :(

So to answer your question, yes its normal

Hmmm...

What I want to say is that my 9-5 does NOT hit fuel cutoff when going over the RPM redline...

That is normal? In my previous car I had no chance to get over the red line as the ECU was limiting the revs by cutting the fuel but ... not on the SAAB!

168mph = 271kph. But here in the US, stock, our cars are electronically limited to 153mph. Not by the rev limiter, but by speed. When you get tuned, I believe this limitation is removed as well as the rev limiter moved back. Since for the gearing to reach 170mph on flat ground with stock tires you would only need 6100rpm, this is all possible with enough power. It seems to me that since 155 is so easily reached with 250hp, and the only reason we can't go further is because the car wont allow it, 170 seems to be very realistic with 300hp, though I imagine it would take quite some time to get from 160-170. 145-153 took about 20 seconds or so on my "test track".

Someone over on Saablink has seen 176 in their Hirsch Tuned Viggen with a GT28(i think, maybe a GT25). They had a pic of their GPS reading. Said the car could have done more, but they didn't feel like going for it. He also has changed his gear ratios though.
