theres a local guy that has a 97 saab 900 in nice condition just needs a motor it has a 2.3 non turbo
the 87 900 im getting has a non turbo 2.0..
can i take the motor out of the 87 and get it to work in the nicer 97 900?
all your help and advise is appriciated
Yeah the problem with the later engine is firstly it is a "straight" block (AFAIK this is okay but you can't have the hood...) and the problem with 2.3 engine is that the crank weights will hit the transmission and not turn.
To do the other way, there are issues to bolt in the engine and also you need an oil pan, etc. NG900 engines (especially the 2.3!) are cheap and plentiful enough there is no real reason...
