I searched and didn't find a concrete answer. I have a 2001 Viggen 9-3 Convertible and I'm looking to find exactly what has to be done. SAAB wants 600 or so dollars for this service and I'm going to do it myself.

Thanks guys! Maybe someone has their manual with them. I have the one for my 900 but I'm not sure if it's the same.

The info is also in the owner's manual. IMO, some of the "service" is not necessary - other service can be duplicated.

Too many times I have read of these high service costs, but NEVER any explanation..

Here is what the service manual says you need to change, the rest is checking over the car.

Engine oil and filter
Spark plugs
Engine and Cabin Filters
Clean AC drain hose

Who knows what they do with the rest of their time. This should take an hour tops for a mechanic that does this stuff every day. Then lets say another hour for checking things. $600 is a major ripoff. A dealer around here quoted me $600 for the 60k, and that includes changing the brake fluid and coolant, plus drive belt, fuel filter, and a couple other things.

Here's the list I have, it's from the GenuineSaab site. They have a service knowledgebase here

It lists these things.

Oil Filter
Drain Plug Gasket
Antifreeze/Coolant, although it says this is done at 40k on the MY2001
Spark Plugs
Air Cleanter Element
Ventilation Air Filter
Brake Fluid, again a 40k mile service on the MY2001
Semi-Synthetic Oil

Check out that site though, lots of GOOD good stuff on there.
