Hey y'all my names Ben and I'm a musician from Montreal, Canada....Just scooped up this wagon today, fell in love with it immediately. It has a bit of a pop in the suspension that sounds like it's coming from the front drivers side (something to do with the coil spring, or maybe just the strut bearing?) and will probably need the brakes done soon, but otherwise a really clean looking car with about 98k miles on it.

Looking forward to learning more about this vehicle and happy to join here - First question: For this year and model Saab, what diagnostic tool will work....any regular OBD 2 scanner? First thing I want to do is disable the tire pressure sensor module

Been driving the car around a bit for the first time, and definitely think it's the spring. Has that distinctive pinging sound. Under 10 years old and 100,000 miles so if I can be so lucky as to find a dealer close by that still services those extended warranties ..

There still seems to be a few Saab specialists around Montréal. You can find them on kijiji. Turning of TPMS will require a Tech II tool and security access. I'm sure there are individuals or shops in the area that can do that.

You should also stop by a GM dealer and see if they can pull up your car's recall history. I don't know if your year has the Takata airbag problem. As for warranty work, you'd have to check what your extended warranty conditions might be.

Thanks EDT...I called the Cadillac dealership in Laval and they looked up the VIN number for me. No outstanding recalls or extended warranties for this model. There was an airbag recall, but I’m assuming that the previous owner had it taken care of because they had the vehicle serviced fairly regularly. There’s a garage near my place in Montreal called « Swedish Auto » that specializes in Saab, Volvo, and Subaru....I’m sure they’ll be able to take care of the diagnostic etc... and program another key for me ?

Cheers for the reply!

Hey Emy, and thanks for the reply. I took it to Swedish Auto in the NDG area, and he was able to get access and disable it. Initially he didn’t think he’d be able to but I guess we got lucky on that one. I also hired them to change both front coil springs and several other small things that needed to be done....they gave me a very reasonable package price for everything with a synthetic oil change thrown in...great place ??

If you stop by a friendly dealer in person, they can give you a printout of recalls and dealer service. If there are "no outstanding recalls", then either the airbags were never an issue, or they have been dealt with. Either way, you're good.
