Just replaced a/c comp. on a customers car and my 07 9-5. Compressor had a small leak and cluch/bearing were well worn (250k). Pull the rad. fan unit for access to connections. Loosen the outlet hose from turbo. to remove comp. New, lubricated O-rings, vac. 15min. Add r-134A until low is 40psi, expect high to cycle 200-250. 2hr job the 2nd time.

I did this on my 2009 9-5 Aero this past summer. Got a Sanden compressor and a Nissens condenser. If you don’t have the Saab Electronic Pats Catalog downloaded, you can go to eSaab Parts and see exploded views with part numbers. I got the compressor from AutohausAZ.com. The o-rings and condenser from eSaab. I rented a vacuum pump from Autozone and refilled refrigerant myself. All works great now. I’m in Chandler, AZ if you need help. IMM Auto in Tempe does great work on Saabs if you need it done professionally. I have aTech 2 if you need a scan anytime. I also have a 2007 9-3 that I’ve done a fair amount of work on including engine swap, fuel pump, brakes, and ECU cloning. Here are the cars:

Last Summer when the compressor was failing I thought about doing that. But I'm not a mechanic, and that repair was also pricey, and the next problem might be electrical within and old compressor. So finally decided to just go with new compressor. I'm familiar with the area you lived. My next stop may be the Volvo/Saab shop on Cave Creek.

Yes, I’m about to have to do the same thing. Only My 9-3 CV , electrically everything comes on. I have power all the way to the clutch compressor spins, no knocking. I’m hoping I can get under there and pull the clutch and not have to pull all of the AC stuff. Just had to do it twice on my wife’s minivan. Not fun not terrible but not fun. And take heed on those cheap compressors because that’s how I had to do it twice. AnyWho I’m hoping that my car clutch decides to kick in once I pull it and clean it. I know what it’s like I live in Louisiana. (also used to live at 19th and Thunderbird in Phoenix #LivingInABlastFurnace.
