Hello,

My radio will not turn on. After doing lots of research and searching the forums, I haven't found a scenario similar to mine.

My radio won't turn on but I have SID.

AMP1 has no red light coming out of the connector.

AMP2 has a red light coming out of the unit which I assume will be fed through the wire to AMP1 which is where it goes next?

Not sure what my next steps are for what I should be looking for?

Could be AMP2? AMP1? Both?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit:Sedan, 300W, and the headunit with the small screen.

your my saabs says 9-5 aero.
Well if it has fiber it has to be a 9-3 as the 9-5 never had it afaik.

OP you should pull AMP1 and see how corroded it might be hopefully it does not look this bad:

AMP1's are the real weak spot in the fiber loop.

Whoops I'll have to update my sig. I just bought a 2006 9-3 with 75k miles.

Amp1 looks like it has normal amounts of rust given most pictures I've seen. I just don't want to replace every component before I find the right one.

There is no light on the harness for amp1 so I can't even perform the bypass. Not sure where to look.

Does it have Onstar? Is the fiber connected there?

Nope, no onstar. Also checked all fuses with test light, all are good.

Is it possible that it is a break in the line between AMP1 and AMP2?

Based on the wiring diagram it looks like AMP1 is last in the loop and since there is no light there and light coming out of AMP2 it seems like it could be the wire?

I haven't checked yet but I wanted to see what everyone says here/ if this scenario is just as common?

I'll have to try that.

Theoretically speaking if that fixes it, wouldn't that bypass AMP1 and AMP2?

I forget off hand which speakers the headunit powers but I think that would leave me with very few speakers working.

Will help in diagnostics though. Thanks for the suggestion!

UPDATE:

I have a red light up to AMP1 after bypassing AMP2.

Both AMP1 and AMP2 look like they are in awful shape on the PCB and frame.

My dad who was doing all work prior (he is a master technician for lexus for 20 years) passed it on to me as I work IT and am handy, decided to look at the PCBs. They were both in no good shape.

I've ordered a replacement for both and hopefully that solves it.

If not, I'll be posting back here with bad news.

Thanks all!
