Hello. First post. I have a 93 Vector with 193k. 6spd. Really like this car!
Recently developed a po638 code. Read up on it a said to check wiring under the battery box which I have done. Nothing loose bent or corroded. Used contact cleaner on the contacts and a tiny bit of dielectric grease to put the connectors back together. Still get the 638 code. Before I spend the 150 on a reman TB I thought I'd ask more experienced mechanics their opinion. Thanks for the replies in advance!

Inspect ur TB for any foreign objects or excessive dirt first, then replace TB .

That's kinda what I thought. It's clean and seemed to move OK so I'll replace it. Thanks...

Thanks, this is indeed what fixed it, a new TB. Course I had a Piersburg TB and got a GM one. Power doesn't seem to be quite the same but mileage is better so I'll take it!

Did you do the adaptation?

1) With the car off and key out of the ignition, put the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it there.
2) Insert the key, turn to the on position, and start the car after the "Check OK".
3) Allow the car to start and idle normally, then take your foot slowly off the accelerator pedal over about 5 seconds.
