This is a tough one but maybe someone can give me an idea. My 03 9-3 has a problem about once every 20 or 50 times I try to start it. What happens is it starts, runs for about 1 second just like normal, then dies. There was a P0638 code which I cleared but it still wouldn't start. Went back in the house for 5 minutes and now it starts and runs perfectly with no codes. It has gone into Limp Home mode with the same code about 5 times in the past year. I cleaned the throttle body, checked the electrical connector under the battery for loose pins - not loose - looked for vacuum leak or bad electrical connections, nothing. Any possible ideas of what to check? I can borrow a tech 2 if that would help. Thanks

Will check that tonight. There aren't many components in the system. Pedal position, throttle position, throttle motor and PCM...
