AC/ACC uses flaps to maintain temperature. Heater core have always full coolant flow unless you select LOW. Then heater bypass valve shuts coolant flow to heater core.

This is correct. How often to you select LO on the A/C.

I've replaced one bypass valve in eighteen years and I think that one failed because it got damaged doing a starter re and re.
