my brothers 9-3 suddenly dies or the gauges die while he is driving it. he can restart rught away it but it is dangerous as when he cut out and almost got rear ended while dead in the street. does anybody have any ideas where to start?
1st off if it happens again, let the car roll until safely out of traffic and make sure the hazards are flashing. Get some warning triangles too and leave them behind the car 10', 50' back. put one 10-20' in front of the car. Get out of the car and wait off to the side away from traffic. Stupid people on phones or messing with radio won't see you until the last second. Now, with the public safety message that driving class fails to teach out of the way, check the CPS. Google "Saab CPS" and start reading. 90% of the helpful hits will bring you right back to saabcentral.com
I do not think its a dieing CPS.. If it were so, the successful re-start would take some time - cooling - ..
As a guess, I think solder cracks at the ignition switch.
We need some more diagnosis....this under difficult conditions...
