I will kindly apprecaite if someone help me resolve the Engine and TCS warning light issue on my 2001 Saab 9-3 Aero.

Symptoms are

1-Engine and TCS Warning Light
2-Very Low idle
3-Unable to engage Cruise control
4-Clicking noise when inginition is turn
5-Loss of Power

Took the car to mechanic he first Change the Throttle Body (brand new) after i got the car back all symptoms reappear:roll:
Took it back and this time he changed the Airflow Meter and that didnt fix anything either:roll:.

I got the car back with me and dont know what to do now.

I can drive the car but i have to keep my foot on the accelerator and also seems to loose the power and i noticed average feul use remain constant at 11.5L/100Kms.

Please Help this is my fisrt Saab, i bought it 3 months ago.

Not a clue... just as a usual rule of thumb if u have a check engine light, check the code, it usually helps. Although a weak return spring doesn't quite sound like it would cause your problems.

Usually this points to a TB being bad and 9 out of 10 times a rebuilt/new one will fix it. Are you sure they replaced it, and is this a Saab shop? Your car is in limp mode like you know and you will need a code reader to clear the code because from what I have read, resetting the TB and disconnecting the battery will not do it when it comes to limp mode. First make sure there is nothing impeding the operation of the TB, take the delivery pipe off and check to see that the butterfly is closing all the way and then make sure everything in connected properly around the TB. Then you have to clear the code using a scanner, if it comes back then bring back to shop if they have a tech 2 and read below..
The electronic throttle body of your car was designed with to tight of operating parameters (sometimes called good/no good values). It kind of means that if the throttle body senses a value/restriction/hesitation that is outside its preprogrammed memory of allowed deviations, it sends the system into limp home mode.
In one attempt to stop Saab dealers from throwing on new throttle bodies for no apparent reason, Saab came out with a software fix that widens the accepted parameters inside the computer to allow a bigger deviation of the good/no good values before the system goes into limp home. Have him check to see if the latest trionic update has been installed.

The TB is replaced with brand new one and he has clear the code as well. I will take the car back sometime next week and give the suggestion given by lms with thanks.
Will post any outcome about this when i will get the response back from mechanic.
I will ask him to check for Trionic update as well.

How did you get on with fixing the engine and TCS warning light issue? Did replacing throttle body and clearing code the fix? I've same model, same issues as you've described (just this morning), with 85,000 km on clock.

Booked with Saab Tech

Preblem is still there

I have booked my car to be checked by Saab Tech at North Parramatta for Thursday 14th April.
I will post the outcome as soon as I get the answer from them.

Have my car booked in at Edgecliff to run tests (http://www.pateandvernooysaab.com.au/) Wed 13th Apr. Looks as if they may end up replacing TB (~ $AUD 1000 groan).

And "new TB, reset limp mode, clear code using scanner". Been through this sequence already? Upgraded trionic software? It would be interesting to see the results of updating trionic software prior to replacing TB.

They are among only handfull of techs who know about saab. I dont know about the trionic update on my car, it will be checked tomorrow.
TB is replace already I supplied to my mechanic, bought from ebay UK brand new and saves more than half of the price.
Resttting the Limp mode was the first thing he did and after clearing the code i think its p1260 it just keep coming back after 15 to min, starts with engine light followed by TCS after a while and the fuel indicator on the computer goes very high as well between 18L/100 to 33L/100 ks.

I have also invested under $20 in OBD scanner for fun and I can reset all the fault codes myself
I hope yours can be fixed by just cleaning the TB and may be the Airflow meter.

Faut was P1230. Replaced with new Throttle Body (12 months part warranty), took car home all good so far, no warning lights. Asked shop about Trionic software update, and they said that I can only get it from the SAAB dealer.:suprised; Left with impression that it'd be prefereable to have software update before the part replacement How'd you go today?

I had the same fault code from day one as well.

I got my car back from Saab Serv since I already had the TB replaced he told me that beofre resetting the fault code the Limp mode has to be cleared and only after that the code resetshould be done.

I drive my car for couple of hours today and both light have not appeared yet.

Im hoping my car is all fixed now.

My advice for P1230 code

• Dont reset the fault code

• Clean the Throttle Body

Engine Code 126002001 Throttle Body Cleaning

When cleaning out the throttle body you need to be sure that you reconnect the hoses leading to it correctly. If you do not get them installed fully back onto the throttle body or you pull the other ends of the hose off the turbo that will lead to stalling when letting off the throttle on deceleration. This is a very common problem with cleaning throttle body out with a toothbrush.​

Throttle body Error Code 126002001 means that the traction control system is in limp home mode. With this code you must clear the code then reset the limp mode. This must be done and then the car must be driven to see if the code comes back. If it does check the big connocter on the firewall unplug it and clean the pin connocters and plug it back in. That should cure the problem unless you have a permanent fault code caused by a component failure in the system.

You can do it all yourself by purchasing ODB scanner it cost under $30.00

If the fault returns its i guess it time to replace the Throttle Body.

hmm..

I have the same problem/ symptoms. I JUST bought the car. Drove it for a while.. and when I gave it the boot, TCS OFF and CEL both came on. It happened during my test drive also. But when we unplugged the battery for a while and then hooked it back up. Both lights were out, and everything was fine.

I can deduce, that this only happens when I drive the car hard. It was fine for about an hour on the highway. And when I got close to home, BAM there it went again with the two lights. So I tried resetting by unplugging the battery, and sure enough, that solved it.

So can I deduce from this that the TB is NOT in safe mode; since it would require me to reset it manually?
