I have to ask because I'm guessing some of the people on here are like me and every chance they get search e-bay for anything saab related that might be pretty cool to have. So do any of those CHIPS do anything, the PIGGYS BACK chip I have heard of in other cars and was productive. From what I understand is just gets rid of some of the computer limits and helps the engine put out more HP? I also wonder if any one knows where to get good DASH BOARD kits, other than the elk parts or guine saab site. I know a lot of those DASH KITS are cheesy but I have seen a few that have potential to look pretty cool the problem in most of the photo's on them suck and you can't really tell what they look like maybe that's on pupose.

I feel dash kits are cheesy, but for power/programming, you want this:

If you have a Vector then you have the 2.0T engine the same as my Aero. The programming significantly improves low end torque and throttle response, and in the 3rd gear the car is a scary rocket.

Well, vectorx, I could only suggest you ask the seller for technical info outlining how this might work. I really cannot begin to fathom how in the world it could do anything other than cause trouble.

Post an ebay link, and I'll read it when I'm home (ebay is blocked at work. IT here is infiltrated by Communists!)

For starters, where would you install this? Sounds like another one of those antenna decals to increase the performance of your cell phone (a.k.a. "mobile").

you're probably right I just thought I would see if anyone knew anything about these things I kinda figured it chip you would put on and it would do absolutely nothing but void the warranty, lol, but it never hurts to ask. If you scroll around on the link below there is about 4 or five different miracle chips, lol

Man you couldn't pay me to use it. It smells all kinds of funky.

1. In the picture, there is something rubbed out & then the text "Application: Saab" is photoshopped on the picture.
2. Feedback is 97% (not great)
3. Their location is "Often Immitated, Never Duplicated", which is spelled wrong.
4. They say this module is for Saab 9-2x / 9-3 / 9-5 88-06 . I'm almost positive all 3 of these have different engine management systems.
5. "Precision Engineered Inc." has NO hits on Google (make of that what you will)
6. They don't specify which 9-3 it works with

That's just one of the products listed. Here's my take. I can't find any more info about this than is on the ebay site. It's starting for $40. That's not a lot of money, so it might be worth the risk. I would ask the seller some serious questions.

Our car has a pretty unique engine management system (Trionic 8), which I think is unique to our SS.

Visit the Tuning Forum as there are always discussion there about his kind of stuff. I'd stick with something I know has gone through testing & that others have already. Listen to db93a.

Beside the other garbage mentioned above, the ad says:

"It will however not work on turbocharged vehicles"

Don't do it ...... you most likely won't see a gain (on a NA car) but you'll probably see an increase in fuel consumption and extra soot on your bumper from the cat not burning correctly.

Is this one of those O2 sensor simulators? I wonder. Sometimes these are used to fool the ECM into thinking the catalytic converter is performing adequately. The part would get installed in lieu of the post-cat O2 sensor. The pre-cat O2 sensor is more important, and is not something you generally want to mess with.

Its based on the priciple of cold cars (when the engine is cold) run richer than warm cars (if the engine were warm/hot). These black boxes simply fool the ecu into thinking that the engine is cold; therefore running rich all the time. Their theory, although misguided, is that more fuel equates to more power.

The boxes don't compensate in any way by adding more air to the mixture or chaning the timing or adjust any other variable. So basically you are creating a rich mixture which will give you poor gas mileage, fouled up plugs and possibly premature wear on your cat. (and a dirty rear bumper)

At least you can come here at work! Anything and everything "entertainment" is blocked at my job. Can't check email either.

These are sold all over e-bay for every make and model. All are the same, just a resistor circuit that when installed, over-rides the intake air temp sensor into thinking it's 50 degs F. The system runs rich, which does add some HP (not 20). Problem is the air isn't really always 50 deg F, so you are over-riding all the safe guards in the engine. Usually doesn't kill NA engine, just shorten the life exp. I don't know enough about boosted systems to detail the issues. It's a CON game by the sellers on E-bay, but some people always are looking for that great deal (20 HP for $20, WOW). If 3 suppliers are selling chips for $600, and one sells for $20, you got to believe something is amiss. Goes over big with the racer-boy crowd, right up there with glue-on air intakes and fake carbon fiber.
