I just picked up a 2.1 head and manifold:


I also have an 85 900 exhaust cam.

I have read that to take full advantage of the 85 exhaust cam, you need to run a 9000 intake cam.

Given that the same head is used on the early 9000 2.3L Turbo and non-turbo motors, does it have the same cams?

Nope. NA means Naturally Aspirated. You need an intake cam from a Naturally Aspirated car. Not a turbo.

The head is off a N/A.



Were you talking about the cams?


EDIT: the cam is an 85 cam. I'm a moron.

Yep, all 9k cams 89+ are the same as the n/a.

That looks like it's out of a bentley. I have one sitting next to me right now. I guess I should have cracked it open.

Ah, good eye. Weird, though Widde's data conflicts with that shot from what I assume is a factory manual - it doesn't list the old n/a cam as going on a plain b202 (not "i") for a year or whatever it was.

Good to know those performance grinds are listed there ;)
