I believe like so many things the 1985 900T distributor was a unique, one-year only model where the cap is basically rotated 90 degrees versus every distributor that came after. Does anyone know why it changed?

I guess nobody. :)

One thing I notice is that the '85 distributor body is tapped slightly differently, and the side effect is that the spring clips are of unequal length. On the later distributor, there is an additional hole drilled in the body which locates a new clip, so both clips are the same. I wonder if this little adjustment was just cost cutting on the manufacturing side.

This question is related to the question about ICMs.... doing stuff I should have done years ago.

If it ever comes up, something useful:

Distributor Hall Sensor -> ICM wiring:

Black (-) -> black (term #3)
Yellow (0) -> brown (term #6)
Red (+) -> green (term #5)
