First off, I know my car isn't a drag car (duh) and it would probably do better on a 1/4th mile track but I gave the 1/8th a whirl.

So I took my '04 Aero (Complete stock) out on the strip and didn't do as well as I thought it would. Lowest time was a 10.437 but I'm guessing with a perfect jump could prolly get it to around 10.25 or so.

A couple of Z06 were running around 8.88 and a Subaru WRX was doing around 9.400 or so.

My last car was a neon, and as you know with those there are just a ton of mods availible. Since I bought the 9-3 I havn't had the time to really check into any mods, so thats what I'm doing now. What are some quick/easy upgrades availible to my 9-3? Anything on a better computer chip?

Like it was said already... definitely get a stage 1 PPC upgrade first. Then you might want to think about a tire upgrade second. The problem with the Saab is that it's FWD and geared toward a sport sedan market where dragging isn't all that important. Therefore, torque is going to be limited in first gear (well as is your traction). The PPC upgrade is the best $800 I spent on this car.

1/8 Miles are not really this car's bag at all. Saab are set up for rolling acceleration, so might still be disappointed if those performance upgrades don't get you where you want.

Very interesting! There is a program called "Drag Racing Analyzer" that will calculate the performance of a car if you give it enough information. I entered the data for a 9-3 Aero but I had to make assumptions such as using 50% throttle for the first 2 seconds, shifting at 5,500rpm and a 3600lbs kerb weight. I weighed one of the wheels at 46lbs and I used the gear ratios in the Saab manual. Here's what it came up with:

60ft = 2.74s @ 28.1MPH
660ft = 10.41s @ 71.3MPH
1320ft = 16.00s @ 86.3MPH

I'd be really interested to know what your 60ft time was compared to the theoretical numbers.

If I let the computer "drive the car" so it picks the best launch and gear changes, it comes up with:

60ft = 2.40s @ 29.4MPH
660ft = 9.93s @ 72.2MPH
1320ft = 15.44s @ 88.7MPH

damnnnnnnnnnnn those kits are expensive.
Stage 3 gets pretty expensive. Make sure you create a login so that you can see prices without the 17.5% VAT. I don't think stage 1 is that bad at a little less than $800 shipped.

Although compared to VW/ Audi where chips are about half that, it is pricey. If you think the BSR upgrades are pricey, don't even glance at Hirsch, Maptun, etc. All of their upgrades are pretty steep.

I figured I would deffintly be under 10 seconds so with dissapointment I didn't bother to grab my slips, although now I wish I would have, anyway next wednesday I will grab them then I will wait until I perform some mods.

I'm planning on adding one of those 3" down pipes and adding a straight pipe out the back removing the stock muffler, and adding a cold Air intake kit. Maybe once thats done I will put out the money for the stage 1 ECU (which looks awesome but very costly).

Once I also get my calipers painted red (on silver) I will host some pics too I guess since I'm a newbie. =)
