'05 vs.'06-need advice on pmt. and when to lease 9-7X...

I am trying to decide when to lease...is it better to get a 2005 now or wait for the 2006? I talked to someone at the dealership on Friday and here is what they quoted me for the Linear:
- $482/mo. for 36 mos. and 10K mi/yr
- includes GM emp. price and lease loyalty
(originally he quoted me $511 w/o the lease loyalty)

Is this a good payment??

Also, heard that the 2006 sticker will go up a little and they are changing the package so that things will be optioned out and not all included as they are in the 2005, thus increasing the price.

Does anyone know what the changes will be and if this is true?? Thanks!!! :)

I'm not sure how many dealers we get trolling the pages here, but hopefully one will pipe in on the subject.

Have shopped the deal around to a few other dealers?

Hope you find what you want. I haven't heard anything but good news from people that have got a 9-7x (except one very tall guy who found the seatbelts a little pinchy).

Employee Pricing

HBas anyone taken advantage of the GM Employee Pricing on a 97X? I'm curious as to the bottom line price when optioned out. It seems to me that the GMC Envoy Denali is similarly optioned to a V8 97X, but without the Saab-tuned ride. But the GMC site shows promo price $3-4k lower than the 97X.

Let's get some numbers posted...

I'm thinking you probably won't get a better deal on a 9-7X again like you
could right now.
Nothing to back this up...just an opinion.
With the Employee thing and everything else?!?
Now is the time, IMO.

And the GM thing finishes this weekend, correct? So the question would be, way discounted 05 model now, or wait for 2006, with whatever added goodies will be in there.

3 days to decide.........

I'd agree.

Agreed. The GM promotion price is pretty good for slightly more desirable cars and not so great for Cavaliers and Sunfires.

The 9-7x price was just below what an Edmunds.com would say the "True Market Value" is - which is usually around a fair spot to aim for in a negotiation.

You can get a bette rdeal on a better equipped Denali (Envoy).

I got mine before the employee pricing.

Fully loaded Envoy Denali...V8, NAV, XM, Side air curtains, better rear diff.

No rear seat video though..got sunroof.

Stickered @ 42,155
Smart buy for around 37k

$468/mo, 24 month lease, 12k miles, $1500 @ signing

LOVE IT!!

Great leather, awesome touch screen nav and XM, ONStar that makes my Verizon phone hands free.

Shop the deal or go find a 2005 Denali. 2006 coming soon and they will have Stabilitrak and DOD V8.

I looked again

Hey - I checked out the GMC site - I see what you have (sorry - not a lot of GM knowledge). Looks like you have a sweet car. I like a lot of the differences.

Bottom line - Had my old car not been stolen and I had more time to look, I would have either waited for a 2006 9-7x or looked at more things including the Envoy Denali. It looks like a superior cousin at a great price!

The '05 9-7x is great so far but I don't plan to have it more than a few years.

Enjoy!!!

yeah, the GMC Envoy Denali is a better deal according to employee pricing. and it's the same size as the 97x, no bigger. the Envoy XLT is the longer wheelbase version with option 3rd row seats. way too big, IMO.

i think GM will have to carry out this promotion again, despite incurring HUGE profit losses last quarter. people will come to expect it. and 06 inventories are going to kill them again next year.

I heard GM is doing away with the employee discount because they have an insufficient inventory of 05s. Many 06 models with lower prices are starting to fill dealers' lots. So on some models, the actual sticker will be lower and compare closer to the employee sticker.

However, the 9-7x probably won't get a sticker cut, that's just my feeling. It's selling well and is priced close to the competition (and a better value than the Envoy Denali and Ranier I might add).

we'll wait and see how it plays out. half the critics are saying this was a one-time offer, the other half are saying they'll do it again next year. i tend to think they'll do it again. thoudands of buyers flocked to dealer lots this summer just because of this promotion. instead of waiting until 05 to buy a car, they bought this summer because inventories were so high. GM can't possibly expect that sales volume to carry over in 06, maybe some of it, but not all. and they have to produce in order t keep the unions happy. i think they'll have a glut of cars and trucks next year too and this may be a yearly event.

i also wonder if anyone is tracking sales of non-US companies as a result of these promotions. i wonder if Nissan/Toyota/Honda sales are also up this summer due to cross-shopping.

LOVE IT!!

Just leased the '06 97x 42i.. no money down..$404/mo
It includes the prestige package..and rear dvd...12000miles...27mo...

I could not do better than $489/mo with no money down on the envoy denali..no nav and no dvd... I like 97x better... I like the xenon gas head lights.. shape of the dash...bigger wheels..I also like the idea of no body clading..cleaner look...I also hear that the 291hp I6 is trouble free..There is also a change in the suspension..And you dont see any on the road.. Denali was my first choice until I heard about the 97x.

They are both great looking vehicles!!!

Saabgirl,

My name is Brian and I live in Michigan as well (West Bloomfield) and my wife has decided to quit her job to become a stay-at-home mom. Anyway, I leased a 9-7X 5.3 at the end of February and now sadly I have to give it up to rid myself of one car payment. The car is essentially brand new and has 4k miles. I can get you into this car way under the monthly payment you specified and I have 15K miles a year and essentially every option including dvd. Let me know if you are interested. I was going to put it on lease trader soon.

Thanks.

Price

If it helps, I bought my 2006 9-7x Arc about 2-3 months ago. The sticker price was ~$44,600 but with all the discounts, incentives, etc, I ended up paying $39k. I took the traditional financing cause by the time I bought it they had a special offer going on for a 1.99% APR. I'm paying $481/month and I'm extremly happy with it. The best thing is that you don't see any on the streets.
