Seriously considering grabbing the BSR Stage 1 PPC, dropped in price from 740 to 605 (genuinesaab). I know for stage 1 I don't need to change any exhaust components or anything, but I still have a few other questions.

a) I have the forge recirculating DV, it came with a few different springs and washers. For stage 1 is it recommended to change them at all? Genuinesaab said to keep it like that no matter what...I'm not sure if thats true or not though?

b) have been reading on other threads about removing the mid-muffler for a nicer, throatier sound, but read about some negative side effects if your running a stage 3 on the heavier side. So my question is would you recommend or "ok" removing the mid-muffler? I will probably be keeping it at stage 1. How difficult is it to do?

c) how do I check for if I have green or red fuel injectors? How much does it help to do that upgrade if I have the green ones?

Thanks in advance everyone,

a) keep the forge as per out if the box, no need to change springs
b) Just keep mid muffler - if you go stage 3 later on its best to replace whole exhaust system anyway
c) lift the plastic cover off at rear of engine (behind cam cover) its the one that says '2.3t' on it. You will have reds anyway.

I wouldn't waste money and just get a Stage2. then I would get your mid miffler removed so your exhaust is more free flowing. also get the updated snorkel for your intake.

I already got the snorkel a few months back. And I do not have the money for a stage 2 upgrade right now.

Are you talking about the throttle body cover?

Yep, your injectors lurk underneath there.

BTW - I would not bother with a stage 2 (many are same ECU as stage 1, just the addition of a CAT back exhaust) The extra power is very little.

Go stage 1, which will pep the car up , then when funds allow get a stage 3 ECU with the hardware mods to suit (ie 3.5 bar Fuel pressure reg, 3" exhaust etc)

OR
If I'm honest, I'd probably go the TD04 turbo and Aero ECU route as the car would be just as fast with the same exhaust and FPR.

The website lists this info for stage 1.

It lists original HP as 252, is it not 230 on a 00 -01?? As it says on the top of the page? Is the 273/325 correct for Stage I

Early aero apparently had 230hp but most reckon it was more. BSR have always quoted the 230 and 250 cars as the same.

Bsr in the past quoted a few more hp and Nm with a stage 2, did'nt know they were exactly the same? - 273hp I seem to remember has been for a long time.

Its the whopping great torque claims of a stage 1 that excite me beyond belief, literally. Having said that 273 is a fair amount, I wonder how 'reliable' /'often' you'd see that?

Who knows, Hirsch by comparison with their old 280hp kit used full exhaust, intercooler, intake pipe etc....this just uses an ECU tune alone.
