I've got a fresh set of wossner pistons and rings that I dropped into my block. have yet to fire up the engine and just read about ring gap. Is this something that I need to deal with? Do I need to pull them back out and gap these rings? Stock engine. 2003 9-5 Aero with 200k Thanks :)

As my luck would have it, I grabbed a low milage turbo from a yard and a local junker came by the house and took it :(. I found a bit of oil residue by my current turbo (around the impeller) Any one here have a source for a kit? I'm tackling my next big high milage maintenance job in a week.

Has anyone ever rebuilt the TD04 turbo on the 2.0T? Is it an easy task for the DIYer or should I look for a used one or have a shop rebuild it? Looking at a cheap 93 with a blown turbo...

Hey saabcentral crew, it's been a couple years since I was a regular poster/lurker on here. I graduated from school and had to put a few plans on hold while finding a job and such. I maintained everything for pretty cheap by doing most repairs myself. Well I'm glad to be back and now with some...

I would like to rebuild or refresh a gearbox for my '99 9-3 (base) and want it to be a bit beefier than a stock box (or more reliable anyway, to handle the stresses of increased power in the future). I've been searching around but either I suck at searching or there's not a whole lot of easily...

Hey Guys, Looking for a little advice. I bought a 2003 9-5 Aero about 2 weeks ago and I'm still working on an issue with the ABS. I need to clear up the issue so I can pass Virginia inspection, or the car is dead in the water. Previous owner stated that the module needed to be rebuilt. I...

Just found out from our mechanic that they think the piston rings are shot on our 2000 9-5 Aero. No compression in the cylinder and the compression stroke is almost blowing the oil filler cap off. They are quoting $1680 in labour for an engine swap, plus the cost of a used engine. They say...

Anyone have ideas on alternatives to OEM/genuine Saab exhaust valves? Other manufacturers? Other engine types I could pilfer? At $110 per valve, rebuilding an engine starts to become prohibitively expensive!

2001 Saab SE Convertable w/auto trans. Victim of sludge. I just bought it 3.5 weeks ago. Saab Specialist here in Seattle, WA wants $3000+ for new (different/running) B205R engine in it. Can I swap a B235R T8 engine T8 into it, without too much complication. It seems the B205R is a more...

Hey all, First off, this forum has been extremely helpful over the last 7 years I have owned my 1991 9000! It's honestly the only reason that it's still on the road :) For the most part, I have been able to resolve all my issues (and there have been A LOT of them) with existing posts but now...

Hi, so my transmission just recently died so I've got to either rebuild it or find a used Trans online. Im leaning towards a used Trans because its cheaper but still reliable- has anyone done this and has a trustworthy site to buy from?

Hey guys, once again I find myself back for some expert advice from the people at Saab Central! So, some of you may remember I bought a MY98 9000 5sp back in June or July of last year. Well the engine turned out needed to be rebuilt due to one of the connecting rods snapping. Along with the...

Hello, My car is a 1984 N/A 8v (european market, i.e. K-jet w/o lambda). I spent yesterday afternoon putting back all my K-jet system together. - New OEM Bosch injectors from Rockauto - Rebuilt fuel distributor - Rebuilt warm-up regulator. All fits in nicely, no fuel leaks. Car fired for 15...

Recently i blew the turbo in my 2000 95. So i found a used one on craigslist and i went and pulled it off the car it was on, brought it home and when i was cleaning it up i found a crack around the housing of the "cold end". But the internal parts are all good. And the turbo that was one my car...

I have been chasing down the cause of the knocking sound coming from the engine ever since I bought the car. I initially ruled out piston slap because, like many have suggested, piston slap usually lessens once the engine heats up, which was not the case here. Turns out the previous owner had...

Hello, I just recently bought a 2001 9-5, 2.3t that had some engine noise. I got a good deal on it, so I've been working on it. So far, I have cleaned out the oil sump, replaced the main a rod bearings, installed new head, intake and exhaust gaskets, and replaced 3 of the 16 hydraulic tappets...

I have spent some time scowering the forums and am getting a little baffled and off-track. I have a 2001 9-5 (2.3l base wagon) and am starting to get the puff of bluish smoke upon startup. Seeing as this has not been going on very long and the performance of the car hasn't changed, I was...

Hi, This morning I pulled up in a driveway to pick someone up. I put the car into reverse to pull out they key...."wait", me thinks, "I will just leave her idling".
