  1. Brake Reservoir Cap...where to buy in Canada??!

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
I would always go to a you-pull junkyard. This is the kind of item that should be easily found in good condition and won't cost much if anything.
  2. Battery Charge Hold Time

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Looking at a 2005 Owner's Manual, Saab states "A car with standard equipment specification and a fully charged battery can be left for 40 days and still have a sufficient charge for starting." Then there's some stuff about extra equipment shortening this period to about 15 days. Look in the "Car...
  3. Lifter Noise & Oil Pressure

Dayco belts and pulleys will be fine. I believe that Dayco made the original tensioner and pulley. There are basically two covers, one for the underside behind the bumper from one side to another, and then an angled piece that goes under the engine as well as over the bottom pulley. The fender...
  4. New to THIS forum, need help

    New Member Introductions
You should post this type of question/feedback to the Community Help Forum. As far as I know, the answer to 1. is "something awesome is coming Real Soon Now". Not sure about 2. but yes it's a problem.

I don't think it will make you a fortune to restore it and sell it. (I could be wrong!) You need to look carefully at the condition of the interior as well as the mechanical aspects like drivetrain and suspension. As soon as you restore one thing (like paint), suddenly other things start...
  6. Shifter linkage

    New Member Introductions
The linkage was significantly improved for the 1997 models as part 46 26 321. It's not a drop-in as you have to add a couple of studs if I recall. Do a search, try something like "saab ng900 shifter linkage upgrade". I think those linkages will be more common, as they were used in the OG9-3 as...
  7. 2007 9-5 OEM roof bars source

    9-5 Performance, Mods & Tuning
Are you talking about the side bars that run front to back on either side? If so, it looks possible to fit them to a wagon that came without them, but it looks like a procedure that will at least require pulling the headliner. Saab also made crossmembers for these bars, which are available...
  8. Towing weight Saab 95 2007

    9-5 Performance, Mods & Tuning
The rental place should be able to tell you the empty weight of the transporter. They can be pretty heavy--they have to support a 3-4000 lb vehicle!
  9. Questions You think are too stupid to ask

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Yeah, I know. I just like the polished rim and fat tire look. Extra marks if it says Goodyear Polyglas in white letters. Well, I just got a set of ALU 71 (9-3 anniversary edition style) rims for a good price. Two have a bit of a tweak at a single spot on the inside, and maybe one of those...

I would double-check that it's been clipped in properly. You can always put back your original passenger mirror to see if it's the motor. Wasn't your passenger mirror already the wide-angle style? I changed out the driver's side on my 9-5 wagon because of blind spots, but didn't touch the...
  11. Power Steering pump problem?

    NG900 & OG9-3 Workshop
The simplest solution is to get a good-looking pump at the junkyard. It's not clear to me if you have to get a pump from a 1999 9-3 only, or whether an NG900 pump might fit. (I assume that pump on a 2000+ T7 engine won't fit.)
  12. Two years of zero problems.

    NG900 & OG9-3 Workshop
Getting the headliner out through the hatch is the easy part. Carefully disassembling half the upper trim in the car without breaking 15 year old plastic tabs that clip in unexpected directionsis the harder part. And then putting it all back together.....
  13. 97 ng900 convertible strut replace/upgrade

    NG900 & OG9-3 Workshop
Looks like Koni sold out of the inserts for the front of the NG900. But there must be used inserts out there. They will all be inserts on the front. I have the Koni yellows on my NG900 (soon to go the way of parts cars), and Bilstein B6 on my 9-5. The Konis have a much smoother ride. The...
  14. False ACC Reading (?)

    9-5 Workshop
You don't really need a thermometer for a very basic check. Run the car. Shut off the A/C by pressing ECON. Now run the temp on both sides to LO. You should get air out of vents on both sides at pretty much outside temperature, maybe a touch warmer. (Assuming the rad fan isn't blowing hot air...
  15. Questions You think are too stupid to ask

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Thanks. Going to see some 17" rims with tires tomorrow. There aren't a lot of Saab rim designs for the 9-5 and NG9-3 that are really attractive to my eyes. The ALU 50 on the car look fine, but they seem to like to bend and are only 7" wide and therefore won't properly fit a 235/45 tire. As for...
  16. 2003 wagon tailgate lock misbehaving

    9-5 Workshop
If it works, that's good. I am not sure that the rod deforms any significant amount, though. I think you are simply giving the solenoid a bit more leverage. Like I said, the mechanism can get a bit sticky. Unsticking the sticky bits I think is a better long-term fix than making the solenoid...
  17. Questions You think are too stupid to ask

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Okay, so my too stupid to ask question is, how much sportiness would a 9-3 Aero CV lose with 16" rims and good-quality 215/55-16 tires? The alternative is to get a set of used 17x7.5" rims and go with 235/45-17 tires, probably same brand (Conti ExtremeContact DWS06, Michelin Pilot 3+ A/S). In...

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
You can also check the hydraulic fluid level. 2004 tops tend to develop a leaky front cylinder. The fluid reservoir is behind the RH trunk trim. You should download WIS (look in General Topics/Tech II section). You can also find the procedure online, though the online version of WIS has...
  19. False ACC Reading (?)

    9-5 Workshop
What's the temp out of the vents on LH and RH side when ACC set to HI temp? Ditto for ACC set to LO temp? Saab changed the design of the stepper motors around 2004. It might be that the ACC is expecting a different design of motor. If the left hand vents don't go cool enough when the A/C is...
  20. First time owning a Saab

    9-5 Workshop
Read the Owner's Manual from end to end. There are many features and functions that you'd never guess/understand if you haven't owned a Saab-logic car before. The manual will also tell you about fuel grades to use. I assume that an elderly couple would not bother tuning their car. In which...
