    On the inner shaft (the short stubby one that goes into the transmission) is there a snap ring or lock ring to secure it. I see that the shaft has a groove, but don't know if it uses a ring that is integrated with the differential, or I need to have a ring present. If it needs a ring, any idea...

    Oil change, spark plugs, fuel lines, rear hard brake lines...then a clutch two days before the event. Should have paid more attention to the exhaust though, as that came off after hitting a rock halfway through the Gambler.

    Definitely a patina champion. The roof has some of the best patina I've ever seen on any car.

    Last year I came across a somewhat rough, but intact '72 SAAB 96 for $800. 3 weeks later I took it on the Gambler 500, and finished! But it does have a worn CV axle now. I'm joining here in hopes to make some connections on sourcing parts for this car and maybe track it's build as a BAJA...
