  1. Winter Tires causing vibration?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Probably balancing. These Aero V6's are a real ***** to balance for whatever reason and don't like too many types of tires. Try to have the shop re-balance again and see what happens.
  2. Newbie about to take the plunge.

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Looks quite nice and in very good shape. As always: get a CarFax and all service records? 1 owner would be great. Read up here on issues. You should probably post this in the regular 9-3SS forum.
  3. Change or no change of trans fluid??

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Ditto to this and other comments: drain and fill--easy and cheap.
  4. Bad news for late 9-3 models. No warranties apply

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
OK there is some confusion here and I'll try to clear it up as I've gone thru it: Cars MANUFACTURED and sold by Spyker are probably subject to all the stuff being posted above, I don't have one of those cars so haven't looked into. Tunnan, you and others, ARE covered by GM if eligble. After...
  5. $210 to install new rotors?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
So that place had rear XWD rotors? What brand are they? And yes $210 is a great deal.
  6. Mobil 1 0-w40 for 2.8?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Correct. Some places think it's 7 quarts. If all the oil is drained out it should be about 6.3 or so.
  7. Vtune...manual gearbox

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
    What is "DMF"?
  8. Who Tuned Your 2.8T V6 ? (POLL)

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Interesting it's just about all Vtuner and JZW. The original euro tunes are "has beens". No reason to use a "generic" tune that is more expensive and poor customer service. So glad these guys are around. I had BSR on my '06 and wouldn't recommend them at all because of horrendous customer...
  9. Ind. Shop or Wrench with Tech2 NW Chicago?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Well I keep forgetting about you Fred. Got to post more frequently! I'm going to be needing rear brakes sometime in the near future. You interested in doing that?
  10. Oil Pressure Low

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Well it's not the oil type or brand. You've got something else going on. Every once in a while the light might flicker but you are beyond that. So either you do have an issue or the sensor is going whacky. Where in IL are you?
  11. Towing my SeaDoo

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Not at all. You should come in at under 2,500 lbs. I tow my Jetski which is over 1,000 lbs. wet and the trailer which is about 500 lbs. Don't even know it's behind me. I wouldn't worry about a tranny cooler unless you're going to tow it alot and in hilly areas.
  12. Ind. Shop or Wrench with Tech2 NW Chicago?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Not sure about Saabtech either... Hubbard Woods Motors or the Exchange. If it's quick and easy don't know why they would charge much more than $50 or so.
  13. failing rear differential

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
It's not too tough so I guess a regular shop could do it. I don't think the Tech II is needed. If the shop has WIS that would certainly help. Well you're in NC so XWD isn't really needed. And once the unit gets replaced it shouldn't need it again. And it's more like $3500 USD to get...
  14. Just "YOLO'd" a 2007 9-3 Aero for my wife..

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
A delayed welcome and congrats. Sounds like just regular things on a 7 year old car with 128k miles on it. Read and learn on here!
  15. Saab XWD Alignment Specs

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
The XWD should be the same for all V6's and maybe the 4. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Guessing 9-7X is a typo? Just have the shop showing you the machine and the specs they are using. I went to Pep Boys this past Spring and they had them and said all I was in spec with no adjustment...
  16. where to get power steering fluid?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Yeah. I have no idea. I just got whatever the manual stated and I could have got them backward--11 instead of 202. I'm pretty sure I still have the can in my garage somewhere:confused:
  17. Saab Misfiring Bad News

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Unfortunately normal and a know glitch. Both my '06 and now '09 does it. I dealt with it early with Saab Technical Assistance back in '08. Don't worry one bit about it. Ironically my '09 rarely does it anymore. Either putting in drive and going or restarting corrects it:roll:
  18. I Just Bought My First Saab And I'm Worried About Transmission

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Tranny is an Aisin 5 speed which a very common and good tranny. Doubt you have any issues. Change the fluid and unhook the battery for at least 10 minutes to try and reset the TCM. Fluid should be changed at least every 60,000 miles per the manual. Every 30-40,000 is better and it's pretty...
  19. 2006 9-3 Aero absolutely terrible in snow! tires?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Saabalingus: I've had both. I've had many sets of tires on my 9-3's as I'm over 305,000 miles between the 3 of them. My '06 SC Aero would literally chew tires up so had several during that spree. So on my current XWD I put the DWS on at 15,000 and had a chronic balance problem. 3 of 4 tires...
  20. XWD Rear Brakes?

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
OK looks like I might have to finally get some rear brakes after 105,000 miles, down to about 3mm. Put fronts on at 95,000 mi. From past research only genuine Saab oem rotors are available. Is that still the case? If not what my choices? And pads? Thanks!
