  1. What is your job title thread

    The Lounge
I am, "ahem", an Airport Specialist for the City of Campbell River. Basically a maintenance man. The grand sounding title was the brainchild of our electrician (whom i'd like to brain). Our union and employer allows inter-departmental movement which is great for job opportunities not to...

    The Lounge
Nice! the best I ever did was a 18 lb chinook on a fly rod with about a foot broken off the end. 45 minute battle!
  3. I am making a big deal out of something that ain't?

    The Lounge
We deal with contractors all the time. They have certain obligations to fulfill if they are changing traffic conditions etc. they have to make a reasonable effort to mitigate the hazards and they have to have well posted signage warning of any dangerous or damaging conditions. If you were...

I am looking for an english comedian on the internet who does a fair bit of religious commentary. I think he is a cockney and goes by the name of "aksolar, kasolar, amsolar"...something like that. I am really having a hard time finding him again.

  9. Saab service near Denman Island, BC?

    The Lounge
Hi I live in Black Creek just north of Courtenay. What is the problem with the car? There isn't really Saab specific garage around Courtenay but I have dealt with Valley West Autohaus for other Europian makes...they are prety good. Glenns Small Car Parts and Repairs aren't too bad though...
  10. Is Wiki the answer?

    The Lounge
I like Wiki. It's peer reviewed, lists references, provides links, uses collaboration and has very little vandalism. On the down side it has a very low user bar but this is offset by the philosophy that mistakes are quick and simple to correct. It's nice for looking up things like...
  11. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

    The Lounge
my uncle had it and then had the surgery. He is a builder and he always made the effort to hammer etc with both hands as he new it would one day get him. He says it's the best thing he has ever done. Healed in a couple of weeks and back to work in a month (extra time off just to be sure).

  13. First Mother's day, what to give to my wife?

    The Lounge
Oooh, nice one Ken! This year i think it's going to be the usual. Our first Mother's day after we go married was the day after we arrived home from Europe. we were exhausted and jet lagged and all I could do was bring her coffee in bed. It's kind of moot because thats pretty much what...
  14. First Mother's day, what to give to my wife?

    The Lounge
You know that Mother's day is a date concocted (or at least embraced) by the retail sector to make you spend more money, right? Spend the day or part of the day with her. Go for a walk, take in a movie, eat some cheesecake, give her a foot massage, go with her to buy a new frock, have a...

  17. Crazy things people do while driving

    The Lounge
Iscrx has a good point that I agree with. Is is a slippery slope thats why it has a to have checks and balances. For example when I was an auxilliary RCMP we got called to a truck that was stopped but idling in gear up against the barrier betweens lanes. The driver was asleep at the wheel...
  18. Crazy things people do while driving

    The Lounge
Tinted windows, no cell phone talking, etc are laws that, sure, might infringe upon our rights, but taken on the whole are better for society in general. I can live with that. For example, roadside drinking and driving campaigns, where the police set up a roadblock and question drivers if they...
  19. A thread about nothing

    The Lounge
Newfies. I love 'um. They end up being the butt of a lot of jokes. Kind of like the Irish in Britain. Always a bit woeful but happy enough when they get a few drinks in them.
  20. Bought a car from dealer with unreported accident

    The Lounge
Where is our resident lawyer? Caveat emptor! But, in Canada anyway the seller can't misrepresent what he is selling. If there is an expecation that that the car is in good condition then the car had better be in good condition. When you sell a car here there is even a box that you have to...
