  1. The difference of a battery.

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
This might come as common knowledge around here, but I'm going to list my tale here as I think it's very important. I have a Saab 9-3 07 Aero I've owned for two years. I've changed the coils on it a couple different times. First set were definitely bad I got with the car and it worked fine for...
  2. Window Things - Rear Left Window Regulator

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Looks like goldwing is about the same price as buying new, is ACI bad too? First Rockauto has them.
  3. Window Things - Rear Left Window Regulator

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
I don't have a lot of Saabs around here, WI, so I imagine it would be difficult to find a used one.
  4. Window Things - Rear Left Window Regulator

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Answering my own question, looks like a part from the Window Regulator. Also doesn't look like you can just find 'a part' of the pie, you have to buy the whole thing. Found a couple parts https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=8614248&cc=1434410...
  5. Window Things - Rear Left Window Regulator

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
So I heard a 'crack crinkle crinkle' sound from my rear left window that I rolled down by accident... and then it wouldn't go back up. It would keep rolling down and then of course it was just stuck. Tore the thing apart today, found out the trim piece on the back isn't the same as on the front...
  6. Excessive Timing Advance

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
No, I have a OBD+Torque. I can get a log off my Vtuner though.
  7. Excessive Timing Advance

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
I was just talking about misfires as a possibility of causing my intermittent problem. What I'm experiencing: -Occasional subtle misfire when at idle -Intermittent power loss, usually when the engine is cold (hesitation, stutter) -Sometimes that happens when the car is warm, however very subtle...
  8. Excessive Timing Advance

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Yes it still happens at stock. I've changed a couple different plugs over the life of the vehicle, including original plugs, Iridiums with .1 gap, and the ones I'm on now which is .08gap. When I got it tuned he mentioned I occasionally get misfires, which I agree, they do occasionally happen...
  9. Excessive Timing Advance

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Plugging in a OBD adapter doesn't give codes either. I originally thought this might be a voltage issue, but the battery hasn't reached a fail state. I've tested it myself and taken it in for warranty, which they used a better tester and it show's the battery is good.
  10. Excessive Timing Advance

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Yup, 2.8, no codes... I assume it's mechanical timing advance. I can't find the emails from a year ago, it was occasionally throwing Brians emails in the junk. The original owner used to take it to a specific Saab expert in Minneapolis, is there a way of hiding codes so the CEL doesn't go off?

    Vermont Tuning.
  12. Excessive Timing Advance

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
So I have a weird problem I'm still trying to figure out. When I got my car tuned about a year ago I was told I have excessive timing advance. It seems my car sometimes lacks power and other times works perfectly. I have searched all over the internet and have no idea how to even start fixing...
  13. Just got an 08 Aero, P0089, Need to pass smog

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
I had this happen once. I did the fuel injector cleaner trick (where you dump a capful of cleaner in the senor port, start it up, wait a minute, turn it off and do it again) and it hasn't come back since. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BK7LR36/
  14. Saab 9-3 Rust Magnets

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
As Peep mentioned I think this is particular to the newer models. You still have a semi-old gen model before the GM takeover really kicked in. Mine is a 07 Aero. I was looking under the car and my muffler is currently rusting (or it's the resonator) with one of the layers already flaked off and...
  15. Saab 9-3 Rust Magnets

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Yeah I agree, these cars seem especially bad with rust protection. I had a old Chevy Beretta from 93 that had rust grow behind the wheel wells, but not nearly as fast as this. It's ridiculous how fast it grows. I talked to a body shop last spring and they wanted 5k to fix the rust spots because...
  16. Saab 9-3 Rust Magnets

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
So, I've been doing some general maintenance as my car was starting to become dangerous to drive this winter due to tires, which needed struts before hand, so I could get an alignment, which turned into brakes, which turned into fixing random other things. I live in WI and winters are pretty...
  17. Strut Replacement

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, when you say 'stock' for my Aero you mean 'sport' right? Since there is only one suspension. And the stock-sport suspension on the Aero is already lowered compared to stock on a 2.0T since there was the stock/sport option. I see standard...
  18. Strut Replacement

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Yup, I think maybe I'm miscommunicating something. I have a Aero 07, it only comes with a sport suspension as you mentioned, right? So stock on a Aero or 'standard', is the sport suspension, since there is only one suspension, correct? The B4s would be for the sport suspension? I also might...
  19. Strut Replacement

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
I know it sounds like I'm beating a dead horse here, but would Bilstein M6's work for the sport springs? It's pretty hard to figure out what's standard and what's sport. I'd rather upgrade from stock rather then just put stock back on (within budget of course). BILSTEIN 35102502
  20. Strut Replacement

    9-3 Sedan, Cabrio '04+, Combi, 9-3X Workshop
Interesting. I was just trying to confirm which options on Rockauto work. I thought 'sport' was the word I was looking for, but if all of those are simply 'sports' and not labeled that way that also works.
