If I remember correctly, the notch in the cam is very slightly offset. so it will only go on one way?

  3. Ignition lock turns loose

Great :) There used to be a repair kit for the cogs etc. part - it was different depending on if the car was manual or automatic. If that turns out to be the issue you might be able to find a kit.

If I recall correctly the barrel is removed by pushing in a pin in the side through the gearlever housing when the key is turned to a certain point. As you have access to the wiring for the switch you will be able to start it without turning the key, you'll need a wiring diagram to work out...
  5. Wiper arm spring replacement?

We do have a sale area - essentially it's at own risk - Saabcentral advises caution by both parties and does not accept responsibitlity nor act as an arbitrator etc.

Sorry I've never heard of one of those breaking. My suggestion would be to try a specialist for a good used arm?
  7. Fuel Smell in Trunk

Only thing I can think of is perhaps the fuel accumulator on the side of the tank?

Yes there is a special tool for the in-tank pumps on metal tanks. It's an over-grown bayonet fitting so the ring needs turning a little bit. Unfortunately the metal is quite soft so using a hammer and cold chisel doesn't really work as it's quite destructive (and of course sparks are something...

Yes you can do it - I did it on mine. I think you need the driveshafts from a later 99 as well (harder to find in the US as they stopped selling the 99 before other markets). Control arms, balljoints and brake calipers are the same. It's the hubs, hub carriers, disks and driveshafts that...

    Can't find the 99 version but here's an example on the 900 - https://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4795441&postcount=10

Yes, but you have a B20 not a B201 - the heads aren't interchangable. Those manifolds always crack there.

I wouldn't want to go past 175ish on a good condition box. It's the car's Achilles heel unfortunately. Although as I said, assuming it's still got its original 4 speed "chillcast" box you have one of the better ones.

You're into sport and rally territory there unfortunately. https://www.eeuroparts.com/blog/3973/building-the-ultimate-transmission-for-the-classic-900-part-1/
