Default Damn trunk latch

Hey all,

So I'm having a perplexing issue with the trunk release latch.
With the trunk open and the latch in the lock position, the actuator works fine and the latch unlocks. This also works when the trunk is resting on the solid bar (so the trunk isn't fully closed) that the latch locks to.
As soon as I close the trunk all the way, the actuator activates but the latch won't unlock.
When the actuator does it's thing the trunk stays firmly locked but the dash will show that the trunk is open. No latch movement though.
I'm perplexed as to what on earth is causing the latch to stay locked. As far as I can tell, none of the latch or the solid bar are adjustable for height so I'm at a loss as to fixing this.

Any ideas are welcome.

You can adjust trunk lid height or lock itself. I start with lid height adjustment.

Remove the plastic guard which runs the length of the lower lip opening and you will see the latch. The latch is held in with 2 bolts. Loosen them, adjust latch, tighten and you are done.

I'm doing this from memory. It may only be one bolt with a clamp.
