Not many comments, but I had to laugh at this one:

The last car ever built will be the Saab 9-3.

AS much as I want NEVS to be successful, I don't see the car as a successor to Saab except in a small historical way.

I was just reading an article about the Chinese drive to own all the high tech manufacturing by 2025 and part of this plan is high import duties on foreign electric cars while they enjoy an almost negligible tariff exporting their cars to other parts of the world. I see the acquisition of SAAB as just a step in this direction. It’s unfortunate that they claim SAABs rich heritage as the heritage of NEV’s.

I couldn't agree more. The western countries struggled to bail out many companies (like SAAB)at the time, but the price we will pay in the long term will be higher. The competitive edge that we had with technology is getting smaller as they close the gap. Once they get there it will be almost impossible to compete in a free market.

Hopefully the future is bright. It is a pitty that SAAB didn't get more lucky like Volvo did. It would have been great to get a shareholder providing proper support for SAAB to bring proper cars to the western market again. Time will tell but so far it looks the future will be very different.

I had exactly the same thought!
Also, rear passenger not wearing the seat belt might leave their teeth there on the event of sudden breaking...
