Default New to Saab and this forum

Hello,

I have a 1992 Saab 900 S 2.1L located in Alaska. We got the car recently as a daily driver for a soon to be new driver. I am getting white smoke from the exhaust pipe when the engine is warmed up. The smoke does smell like it is radiator fluid being consumed in the combustion chamber. Currently, I am in the midst of removing the cylinder head to check/replace the head gasket. Anything I should look for? What are particulars of this engine and transmission? My experience with rebuilds is in 1971 VW Squareback, 1967 Dodge Dart 270, 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger.

Your best bet is to post in the Classic 900 workshop, if you haven't already. And get a good guide! Haynes may be OK. C900 shop manuals are pretty frequently available....the cars finally head to the junkyard, but the shop manuals survive.
