if you get a 2006 9-2x aero, then you already have the same motor as the 2006 sti i believe. its an ecu tune and a few bolt on differences like turbo and injectors that seperate the aero/wrx from the sti.

BUT the aero's are more expensive than linears so it's up to you!

Also there are suspension differences between linear and aero. but it can all be swapped over. it would be easier to go straight with the 2006 aero, as it already handles good, has an sti steering rack, and has the motor.

Cool

If you get the WRX manual transaxle, be gentle with it, unless you upgrade and bolt in an STI 6 speed, which is probably a good idea if you are going to use the performance on tap from the nice F4Turbo motor, especially if you are going to add boost.

Your chances of finding a 2006 Aero are pretty slim. I hunted for one instead of the 2005 because it had a larger motor.

Some rough but reasonable figures for sales were something like:

2005 Linear, 2.5 @ 165hp, 1,911 manual/2,638 automatic
2005 Aero, 2.0 @ 227hp, 1937 manual/1353 automatic

2006 Linear, 2.5 @ 173hp, 463 manual/546 automatic
2006 Aero, 2.5 @ 230hp, 235 manual/103 automatic

Tossing in the Canadian numbers will boos the totals like 15% or something. Kind of like the Turbo X, the final figure for the 2006 Aero was about 400 units total.

Compare that to the number of Corvairs produced in 1962 @ 336,005 units. Of those, the turbo Spyder accounted for 9,468 units.

My point is that they are out there and can be had but wait for the right one. I set my sights on a 2006 low mile Aero that never happened.

Or instead of buying a 9-2x and doing an STI swap you can just buy a 9-2x with an STI swap already completed:

My friend had purchased 9-2x in last few days, i'm very surprising to see its features which are quite similar with old models.
Design is good, engine turbo and modern suspension technology.
