Exclamation Auto Transmition Fluid Change

Its time for another silly question I'm afraid . I've been reading the Haynes manual regarding the changing of the ATF. and got to the part where it says "Note that a special adapter key will be required to unscrew the plug" Don't have one of these will a normal spanner do the job just as well or is there an alternative to the special adapter key. My fluid is very dark ( almost black actually) and in need of a change but I don't want to start the job only to find I can't get the plug out.

Cheers
S.P.

A 24mm ring or open ended spanner is fine!

Thanks for that Chris but just out of sheer curiosity does anybody know what this special tool looks like??? or is it a ploy so that Haynes can add another spanner to the difficulty rating

I think the special spanner/tool they are referring to is for the manual transmission. The auto is a straight 24mm nut as Chris said.
