That battery looks very plain.

I'm waiting to see how you customise it!

Hi!

Very interesting thread, have been following it for years!

Now my question is about the painting of the plastic engine-cover (the one around the oil-filler). Can you please describe how you did it and what type of colours/primers etc used? I want to do the same mod on my Saab, but my test-version did not turn out too good...paint started to peel off after the first drive (because of the heat?) etc.

Thank you!

Hi Teretali

Nice of you to follow the work I do to my car. Thank you.

I did this job in spring 2017 and so far the paint stick on and looks perfect. At first did I clean and sanding the covers some. To get the surfase as smooth as possible. Then did I have plastic primer on from an spray can. By the way I only use spray cans. So wet sanded I with 2000 grit paper. Then did I have three layers of the Imola paint ( same color as the car paint) Again did I wet sanded with 2000 grit. So did I have two layers with clear coat and sanded again with 2000 grit and 4000 grit and at the end I polish the parts. That is more or less it. At least as I remember it.

Some pictures from when I did the job. sorry but do not have pictures step by step.

And this is how the covers looks like now.

Thank you for answering!

I will try again to paint my second engine cover, I think that I was too lazy with washing and sanding before using the primer, that is why the result was not as good as on your pictures.

I also have red 9-5 wagon, but I want to have engine cover like this:

(Sorry about the error in the link but the forum says that i'm too noob to post links )

Your welcome!

Like this one then.

One more thing. I have done what I can to limited the heat from the engine bay. As I have an extra aluminium cover over the heat cover for the manifold, Exhaust bandage on the manifold and the down pipe, Aluminium hood liner, turbo blanket heat shield cover.

Lost of LEDs everywhere Have you had to replace any of them because of failures? Probably all LED-bars are made in China but still there is difference in quality.

Made me a movie earlier today. Sorry my English. So it should have been some editing here. But when you rarely speak English. It'll be what it is. Otherwise, when I say that I later, shall put leather on the dashboard and door pillars. I mean, of course, not the door sills but the door covers. =)

Now it is too dark to see what has been done. But will make a better video later when I move the car to a brighter place.

And also that the video just stop. It was fail on the camera.
