: Swedish midnight Boston run

I would like to see if there's any interest out there for a midnight run of Boston through the tunnels and everything? Would be pretty fun to get 10-20 cars for sometime in the spring
Update: the date for this will be march 23rd. The meeting spot will be at rockingham mall on the Macy's side at 10:30 pm
The run will end at a burger place near Fenway

It would be on a Saturday night. I was thinking we could rally some where off of 93 at 11 pm. Spread the word, we need more people! This will be happening in march.

Iím in! Where in Boston did you want to go other than the tunnels? Also just putting it out in the open route 2 in western mass is a fun drive to Amherst and back to Boston itís a winding country road/ old freeway.

I live about 30mins North of Boston, I know the main roads but not the tunnels as detailed as we need. But I can help plan a route. How far are you thinking of making it? Does it need to be a loop back to start or can it end at different location?

Maybe a large loop around? If you could help plan the route that would be greatly appreciated!
I was thinking of having the meeting spot at the rockingham mall in Salem

Ohhh BOY am I IN!;ol; I live in Boston and have my Saab and it is currently running--Jupiter must be in line with Mars! Yeah, I'd be happy to route-plan. Old Jamaica way and the surrounding burb's of Boston have some savage twisties! I can route plan, but plan on it being a real drive and not some 3 mile whoop-dee around Bean-town....the problem with the tunnels is that there actually aren't too many that go anywhere fun or are themselves interesting. We could also goof around on Storrow Drive, which is a pin-ball machine with plunge-in-river consequences. We could end at a FANTASTIC burger place by the Fen's, too. Boston is not actually a great city to drive *in*, but around it is boss!

Funny, if we actually did get a big group together I could call in some media favors and maybe get us some publicity. TV stations love this kind of stuff. So anybody in the Witness Protection Program, take a pass.

I agree with "Cm" Boston Sucks to drive in. The roads are not that good and the tunnels might fall you.... he he. They are still fixing that problem I think. If I was to plan a trip I would make it on a Saturday afternoon out to western mass and back. It's a more fun drive with better sites to see. Also we could plan to eat lunch someplace together then drive back. But if you want to do a Boston trip you would not be seeing much unless you paid some tolls. As in about 3 of them, I made a rough trip today at lunch. Tell me what you think of it Here is the link. "CM" do you have any other Idea's about surrounding highways we could use? If the link doesn't work Google map

Okay Everyone, I've been messing with google maps for a couple days now. Holy god is it frustrating. Anyway,Our route:
1) Meet at Rockingham Mall, Exit TBD. Meet @ ~10:30pm and depart by ~11pm.
2)Proceed to Chickatawbut rd, Quincy Ma, which has a fantastic elevation gain and an amazing view of Boston skyline.

3) From there we head on over to 80 Carby St, Westwood, Ma/Powisset St, which are some of the best twisties I have ever driven. From there, we make our way northeast and then hook-up with 90 East, or, take some other way to get us to an eventuality of Old Jamaicaway highway (twisty old parkway). We'll take this south, which brings us into back-bay/mission hill.
4)From there we can make our right through downtown on Huntington Ave and go either to someplace near south-station/Boston Harbor, or we can make our way to tasty-burger in the Fens, which is convenient to 93 north and I90, and has some of the best burgers in town...as well as parking.
Give it a look and feel free to add in what you want, especially the segways between POI.
Thanks,
Chase

I work with a guy who has a participated in a number of the Subie nightime runs thru Boston. Says the cops always get wind of it a basically make things miserable. Even if not speeding (which they usually are) they get sited for loud exhaust, tinted window, etc. Be careful out there guys.

No one would want to drive behind me with my HID's anyhow :p Not to mention how horrible my alternator sounds right now, that would be sure to attract attention.

Looking forward to some other events coming up this spring though! I haven't heard anything about Springtime in Sweden, and am starting to think it's not gonna happen. If that's the case we need to be sure and organize something else towards the end of April when the weather (hopefully) starts to turn nice!

Told we should know about SIS in a week or so. Charles River Saab really didn't have a lot to do with the event. It was more in the hands of the NESA and the Chrisman family. chikatawbut rd is most definitely open at night! At least, it has been when I went the last 6 times. You may be thinking of another part of it, which is not main-highway-esque. The road I was on was long and smooth and wide--not a "park road". In the middle of it is a wonderful scenic view of Boston.

I may have had a stress-induced lapse; I have no idea why I recommended Rockingham Mall. Perhaps someone recommended it to me or it was subconscious...dunno. It looks like it is in/near the NH boarder. This is nearly an hour out of Boston, for us to drive back down, for us to then drive back up! I guess I assumed( since I was unaware of a decent meeting place near Boston, off 93) that the Mall exit was logically close.
I petition for a last minute recalibration;
1st) The home depot near Milton, right off of 93 south. If the NH crew wants to rendezvous here with the MA people, that works too. This way people can roll deep with those from the north and we all don't have to drive north to go south.

Okay, now the long leg from our rendezvous at the frameworks, up the VFW parkway to the jamaicaway, to the "west lot" of Wentworth Institute of Technology, which is technically "550 huntington Ave". Our point man, a friend of mine in a VW, is going to be lead navigator and is most familiar with the roads.
We both go to WIT.

Okay, and here is the terminus of the trip; tasty Burger!
They are open until 2am, but given the trip and lag, I think we should meet earlier, like 9-9:30am.

9:30 sounds good. Do you want me to change the location? I have a feeling some people won't check back for updates and will still go to the mall

I Agree but disagree at the same time...
I agree that we should have a second meet up place for the Ma people But you CANíT Change the meeting time this late in the hour. People have made plans TO BE at the mall at 10:30 pm Not 9:30pm yes 9:30 would have been nice, but we have passed the 48hr decision mark. Plus if YOU went to the mall at 10:30 and nobody was there you would probably be Very pissed for driving say a hour for an event that the time and location was changedÖ. (Just saying) . So I say Stick to 10:30 keep your two locations but have the first one be at the mall the other at Home Depot. Thus making the second stop the Home Depot. Good Idea and if it was two days ago I would 100% agree but it's not. Letís just keep this simple and leave the time alone. I want to get off the computer and go wash my car. Ha Ha -Dylan93 since you are the trip leader and cause you live in NH can you meet at the Mall @ 10:30? I will be going to that location aswell. -Joe

Yes I will be at the mall. Me and aero talked about it this morning and came to the same conclusion that the northern guys will still meet at the mall and them proceed to Milton. I'm still waiting for a response from cm though

ATTENTION: SINCE GOOGLE IS A POS IT APPEARS THAT THE HOME DEPOT IS...NOT. SO, WE ARE MEETING IN THE GIGANTIC PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE DESTINATION LISTED BELOW, WHICH IS A TILE STORE.
WE ARE NOT MEETING AT THE TILE STORE. SINCE GOOGLE, IN IT'S INFINITE WISDOM CANNOT DETERMINE WHAT THE STORE IS, THE BEST I CAN DO IS GIVE YOU RELATIVE DIRECTIONS.

Day after the Boston run and you guys are awful quiet. Did you all get thrown in jail? How did it go?

FYI: Springtime in Sweden meet will be more like Early Summer in Sweden this year. It will be held on June 15th in Amherst, NH. Told the website will be up soon. SiS will be open to all Swedish cars this year for the first time, so tell your friends who drive Volvos and Koenigseggs.

Haha no we did not get thrown in jail, we didn't run into any problems;ol;
We had a good time, would have been a little better if we had more cars though.
I Just saw the sis post, can't wait!

Was a good run we had 5 Saabs and 1 VW. Feel bad Beer's Saab ran low on gas and had to drop out. Was a good time though, stayed up way past my bedtime. Nice to meet the Mass guys and they did a great job leading the way although it was weird to have a VW leading a Saab cruise haha.

For sure Dylan. Your car has come a long way and is looking Great! Was fun making all that noise blasting through the tunnels on the way home. My girlfriend said "why does his car keep making that whistling sound" haha.

Was good; I think the few cars and bitter cold weren't conducive to a hangout kinda meet. It also seems "midnight" is too late for a rally; ending at midnight might have been better, as it was ~2am at the end of rally, Tasty Burger was LOADED with drunk people, and everyone was cold and tired.
Can't wait for SiS!

Those interested in an NH cruise we have sort of gone ahead and merged a few events and are planning a drive on Sunday May 19th.

Check the thread here: https://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251255

I know it says June 2nd, but we are planning on the 19th of May, it will give us more time between the cruse and SiS.
