: New England Saab convoy to Swedish car day 2012

Hello all, I would like to get some interest going for Swedish car day 2012 in Boston this year. It would be great to get a convoy going for the people coming from Northern New England on this day. Any idea for this is welcome!

depending where you're coming from I could be interested. There could probably be 2 convoys... 1 from the 93 corridor, and another from ME and the seacoast area down 95.

I could be persuaded either way

foreversaab

I would be coming from the Hanover NH area so I would have to take 89 to 93. Either way, we should get all of the convoys to meet up somewhere like manchester so we could all come together and drive into boston.
Also, any convoy coming from 89 and 93 could come together in concord.

Is this Larz Anderson? I was at the German car day last weekend and it was unbelievable. That being said I dont think any really rare Swedish cars exist that I would be excited to see...

My idea was that we meet in the morning in concord and have a convoy to swedish car day location in boston. I think concord is a good spot to meet at for a convoy because 89 and 93 both run into concord. It would be great if everyone that is coming down 89 and 93 could meet here for a large convoy to the event. I'll be coming from north central ma and could meet up on either 93 or 95 south or somewhere in southern new hampshire. looking forward to the day.

What it looks like to me is if the majority of us meet in concord, then we can either take 93 down or 293 down. I guess those of you that are south of NH could pick up the convoy on either of those routes depending on which we take. If anyone has an idea of a route from concord let us know!

I'm definitely looking forward to the convoy, but I may have to split off as we get close... I'm hoping to park along side a friend, Glen, with a similar car to mine... it would be really great if he and I were parked side by side, my 85 turbo in rose quartz and an Glen's (I wanna say 88?) beautiful rose quartz turbo!

I was at Larz Anderson a few weeks ago for the British car day. If the Swedish car day is similar, plan to be there early as it was PACKED. The best route is down 93 to 293 to Route 3, then 128/95 to Route 9 east. Google it; not a bad trip.

I'd love to attend, but it'd be a LONG day from up here. If so, I'll post again.

Now that they've moved it to August it seems to bring out a much bigger crowd. Last year they came very close to filling both fields! SAAB has a much larger presence than the Volvo crowd, but there are some cool T5's, older volvos, and crazy V8 wagons that show up.

foreversaab
13th July 2012, 09:15 AM
I am looking forward to this event! Saab is definately my favorite out of the two, but, my last car (my first) was a Volvo 240 wagon. It was a great car and I wish I could have kept it! I will be interested to see some cool 240's down there as people do many different things with those cars. I think the route that was just mentioned is the one to do so lets plan on that. From what I see we have 8 cars so far?

How about the park and ride off of 12s or hannaford off of 14? Both are extremely easy to get to

The large southbound rest area just before the hooksett tolls could work well

The park and ride at exit 12 is pretty small and often times full

Yes, I would be interested in participating. I live along the seacoast in NE MA, so I can join up with a convoy on I-93 South or on I-95 South, either one, just inside the MA state line. I can also drive to Concord NH to meet up to start with the wolfpack meeting in Concord.

Cark
15th August 2012, 06:54 AM
8:00 at the hooksett market basket. sounds like the plan!

I take this to mean the convoy will be LEAVING the Hooksett Market Basket at 8am?

I know it's early, but trust me, you'll be glad you got there early. It's really nice when you can park your SAAB in the normal show field by make (meaning the 9-3's all park together, the 9000's all together and such). Otherwise, if you get there after the main field fills up, you end up parking random style in the overflow field...

15th August 2012, 09:06 AM

That really sucks, glad to hear you're okay though

Everyone that was part of the convoy, I'm trying to get the same group for another run but up to mount washington this time, I made a thread for it

read my mind! If we can get the same amount of people we had for the convoy it would be a great cruise!

Finally got some video up online. Most of the audio was unusable so I just put some music to it. Take a look! Enjoy :D
