Spitting(missing?) and surge while idling

I have and 87 spg. It starts great. It runs great. But the idle is driving me crazy. After startup it idles at 850-900rpms but "spits" regularly and will "surge" up to 1050 and down to 800 then back up. I acts like it's search for the proper idle position but never finds it... "spitting"(missing?" all the time". Any advice would be appreciated. It has 112,000 miles and it a honey in every other respect.

Ps. I'm going to try cleaning the throttle valve per an article I've found in tech help.

| it does sound like a aic valve fault as you suggest. Check for any vacumn leaks if cleaning is not successful | |
