Stalling/hesitating

Question: Hi, I have a 97 900S 2.3 liter non-turbo. Lately when it is cold out my car intermittently stalls, usually when shifted into gear or right after it is started. The stalling only happens before the engine has warmed up. Once the engine warms up (the temp meter gets above the "blue section)it has never stalled. It also hesitates but only the first time you accelerate after starting the engine. The hesitiation happnes intermittently also but can happen when it is warm out. Both of these problems only occur before the engine it warmed up. What needs to be fixed??? Some people have told me vacuum hoses, though I would think it would be a cold start regulator or something that has to do with the engine not being warmed up. Any ideas???

Adam, it could be a sticking idle air control valve, it could be the engine coolant temp sensor,it could also be vacuum hoses but the most likely, and easiest to find and fix is the o rings on the induction pipe where it meets the throttle body. these are very commonly squashed, causing an air leak, and must be assembled with rubber lubricant.Lindsay.
