I have spent the last 2 hours going through 18 pages of questions and answers as to why my daughters horn does not work and the SRS light is on in her 94-9000. There is no way I can take the airbag off but i can wire a new horn and mount a button for her to use. My main concern is does anyone know if the light (SRS) will stop her car from passing the safety inspection here in Massachusetts? Her sticker expires the end of the month?
Thanks M&M's mom |

It keeps you from passing in maine im pretty sure..
However my guy used a computer to reset the light. It stayed off for the duration of the inspection, they came on right after i got the car back, so I passed.... |

My SRS light came on and I had it reset at the dealer for $25. Trouble is, I had to travel quite a ways to the dealer. I'm due for a warrant (safety inspction) shortly, so I removed the wire that lights the srs on the pictograph(pictogram?).
If the horn and the srs happened at the same time. I'd be checking connections all through the steering column.

Horn not working and SRS light showing. sounds like the clockspring is broken.

I understand it is the clockspring but i can not replace that (taking off the airbag is not something i am confortable doing) and the local dealer wants over $400.00 to replace it, so to bypass that i am planning on putting in a secondary horn system, but the SRS light will remain on and she need an inspection sticker.
Think I can pull the fuse to the SRS? thanks |

Find an independent to fix it. As skunk said most likely the clock spring is broken. But you won't know until you pull the airbag.
After you fix it you still need to reset the SRS. An indy with an ISAT can also do it for you. A blinking SRS will pass NJ inspection. But horn not working won't.

I'm a Mass. State Inspector. It shouldn't pass with the SRS light on. Proper inspection requires that the inspector check that the SRS light works, and that it goes off after the self-test.
The fact is, hardly anyone checks. Put a small box or something in front of the light, odds are it will pass.
