Hi everyone...I have had my 03 9-3 for almost 2 months now and I LOVE my car! I have 2 questions (or maybe problems):
1. The first few times I fueled my car up, the SID DTE reading automatically reset itself and immediately started counting down. Everything seemed fine. The second to the last time I topped off the DTE reading only went to 120 miles and it was "stuck" there for a day or so until I could do some research in the manual. It said that I could reset the DTE by pressing clear and holding for a few seconds, which I did and it starting showing what I would guess was the accurate reading. Yesterday I fueled all the way up again and it reset itself but now the DTE reading is going up and down like crazy, along with the mpg reading. Yikes-I'm scared something is really screwed up!!! Did I mess up by resetting it? Is it supposed to reset itself everytime? 2. The seek button on my radio is peeling so I've resorted to only using the seek button on the steering wheel to prevent further peeling but I'm worried that the other buttons are eventually going to start peeling too. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks for any advice!! |

Peeling Buttons is a known issue on 03's, most guys have had it resolved under warranty..
The SID, I can only speak for myself, I reset it myself at each fill up. You have to hold it in (the Clear Button) until you see "Trip Computer Reset" or something like that, to be sure it's cleared. Buts it's possible it could be going on the fritz. |

Once you reset the trip computer by pressing "clear", everything is reset including average speed, average fuel consumtion etc. My theory is that when you reset the trip computer, readings for the various parameters are effectively instantaneous for the very first reading. I think the sample rate is around 5 seconds or something like that. So to begin with, the DTE and average fuel consumption will jump all over the place especially if you're going up hills, stopping, starting... The further you travel, the less sporadic it is because it's averaging more and more readings and each subsequent reading has lesser and lesser of an effect on the average. So... That's why you get sporadic DTE readings after a reset because the DTE is calculated using average fuel consumption and the fuel level signal Not sure why sometimes it resets itself and other times it doesn't Last edited by VectorDan; 14-04-07 at 01:18 AM. |
