Default replace remote control battery

I have 2000 95, the remote control is the kind which buttons on the same key.

I need help to how to replace the battery, there is a pin size hole at the side, but can't seem to be able to pin it down and release the cover.

Does anyone have done that before and know the trick to releaes the cover of the key?

Thanks in advance for any help.

What size pin are you using? I read the owners manual today and I believe it must be <1.5mm, but am not sure. Check the manual to make sure, there is also a procedure to turn the remote back on.

The cover might just be stuck.

You need to use something small to slide into the hole on the side of the fob to release the back cover. Be very careful not to push to hard or you could break the clip. If the cover does not pop open when you push the clip in, use a second pin to gently prise the cover up while pressing the clip.

Again i must say...be very gentle, the clip breaks easy! If you still can't get the cover off, you should take it to the dealer and ask them to remove the cover. You can then replace the battery yourself, say Thx and head out the door.

Once the battery is replaced, you must (when in range of the car) press the unlock button 4 times to reinitialize the remote to the car.

You can't use a pin or paperclip or anything like that in that hole. You need a screwdriver or small pin punch or something very strong, because that sucker is freaking tight in there. Get a helper (or third hand) with a small screwdriver, push your pin punch into the hole and have your helper gently pry the back off the key.

Next step after you swap the battery is getting the car to recognize the key. I've never been able to make it work (always need dealer to Tech II it) but you're supposed to be able to push unlock several times to reprogram it.

That would be great if you asked on your next visit to the dealer. It would be good information for the next time you have to replace a battery, but also for the rest of us!
