taking apart key

My new key arrived today in the mail. Its the 2001+ style (maybe 2000+?) with the buttons on the key. Anyways, how do I it apart to remove the metal part of the key to replace it with the extra one I have cut for my car? Also how much can I expect to be charged to reprogram the key to my car?

IMO, it should be 0.5 , but the dealer will probably charge 1.0 - a days pay for many....and the flat rate continues its upward spiral..

It was but $9.00 per hour in my day...... a spare key was at worst - one hours pay...
