Default Car Wash with Service?

Just wanted to see if this was normal... I just had the first 3500 mile service done on my '06 SC and when I picked up my car, it wasn't washed, I recently had a Lexus and after any service they would wash the car. IMO, If Saab wants to be considered a luxury brand, this is one of those small pieces of customer service that needs to be done.

Mine always does from Rogers SAAB in Knoxville. The past couple of minor service issues I asked them to skip it so I could shave time and move on.

apparently they were unable to get to it, and they will be getting to it when I bring it back in to have some volume controller part that is on order comes in. Still not a very good excuse since, I dropped the car off at 6pm the day before the 8am service and picked it up at 6pm the day of.

Yeah I think this is unfortunately a dealer choice thing. I always get a car wash offered to me when I go in for something, the main problem is two-fold. When they wash the car, they do NOTHING to the inside (I've had BMW's in the past and they vacuum the car along with washing it). Also, I've gotten the car back a number of times and there was dirt on the inside on the steering wheel, door handle, console, etc...I've mentioned this to the dealer, and totally trashed them for this on a mail survey done by Saab USA.

Mine gives me a voucher for a free wash at a place near them. I never get to it though 'cause I usually pick my car up in the am before work, and it's a good 25-30 minute drive to the dealer. I just wash it myself. I agree though, I think the dealer should do it themselves and return it to you clean.

It doesn't always happen, its a shame as they could keep customers instead they fail on the little things which is a shame. One time the mechanics greasy hand marks were still on the side of the car, oh yea it was washed... the tech just stared in agh as I pointed it out and left, had to run. But the car was fixed which was the important thing.

Saab in Sherman Oaks (Los Angeles) washes my car every single time I take it in, regardless of what I'm getting done. It should defintely be a part of a dealer's customer service.

Mine got washed by some garbage porter, with some brush that absolutely scrathed the hell out of the car!!! He did a 2 minute job with a brush on a black car! He left dirty spots all over, never washed the wheels, and neglected to dry it!!! I mean if you're going to do a simple favor, do it right, these are'nt kia's!! they absolutely half-assed it and that just made me mad because my car looked ridiculous until I re-washed it, then spent all weekend clay bar-ing, polishing, and waxing it to get out the swirls. My advice is that if you intricate with your black car, as most of us on here are, tell them that you dont want them to wash it, because someone who doesnt care about the car is going to screw it up. Trust me!

Nobody's workmanship is as good as your own. I've seen them wash it at my dealership. They use a bucket of dirty water to soap up the car with what looks like a mop.

Yes - whenever I bring my SC into the dealership - they wash my car. In one instance, they even washed my car the day before a huge snowstorm - I thought that was a waste of resources.

Interesting post. It made me run to my garage and check my service booklet. It does mention car cleaning and even cleaning the windows and wipers.
I had my 30.000km service done last week and my car wasn't cleaned at all.
They charged 275€ or 370$ for that service, a car wash would have been a nice gesture.
Do you BENELUX or Euro Saabers get a free car wash during inspection?

I had them do some work last summer. Pretty nice and they HAND wash it, not run thru a machine. Both their techs are pretty good.

I am the same way, I have to insist they don't wash it. It took me quite some time to get rid of the "dealer installed" swirls that came with my vehicle and I dont want to go through that again.

No. Certainly not. I've already tried 4 different Saab dealers and none of them were completely to my satisfaction.

Another example: my dad drives a Lancia Thesis. Great car, but even with a 'regular' service of 1500 euro's (about 2000 dollars?) they don't wash it..
