Hi all you Excel types out there - little challenge for you.
I want to work out the price of a road trip in petrol, and have been struggerling to work out the required Excel formula. Any ideas anyone? As my 9-5 show the mpg the first stage is to convert Litres to MPG and then allocate the price of each Ltr - then there must be a way of entering the distance covered and hopefully this'll give me the cost of petrol for the trip. If someone could provide the formula or and explination of the maths it'll be good. So if anyone wants the challenge...please let me know Or more simply can I set my display to read litres... thanks in advance Martin |

Microsoft Mappoint can do this as well. You tell it where you are going and the cost of fuel and it will calculate the totals for you.

if you know what you are getting in MPG, just divide it by 4.54 to get Miles Per Litre..... there are 4.54 litres to a Gallon..... easy peasy lemon squeezy

MPG / 4.54 = MPL (miles per litre)
MPL * distance = litres litres * price per litre = "oh ****, I'm sorry I asked!..." |
