Default Quite a morning ....

Interesting commute this morning - bombing along route 30 a few (20) MPH in excess of the posted max I came upon a flat-nosed turbo (red) - he tucked in behind me - then we came across a black 4dr post-facelift hatch - who also joined the train - quite a sight - three old Saab's running nose to tail down the left lane past all sorts of generic commuter boxes and jelly-bean shaped vehicles of oriental extraction!

Are there any other cars of similar vintage with such a high percentage of the original production still on the roads on a daily basis?

Its hard to say what else is out there. I don't tend to notice them. But a better question is are there any other cars out there of similar vintage who's owners would find each other on the freeway, hook up and run a train on the rest of traffic?

I met 2 times an '84 900 3drs green Turbo close to my home, but came from the opposite diretion. My speed was high maybe he hadn't seen me.... I suppose it can be one of the many SAABs of a man called "saabspecialist" which live in my zone...never met him.................

I regularly get flashed headlights and high-fives when meeting other 900's coming from the other direction.

Have not yet been part of a choo-choo train! What fun!!

I do see a lot of 900's - both pre and post facelift - running around. In fact there was a red turbo parked in Hanover yesterday - and there's a rather nasty grey SPG (in spectacular condition) that parks in South Hanover - it's odd in a way because there are a lot of VW's and Saab's in the area - and no dealers in town!

The pace line was fun -

Default Saab spotting in New Jersey

No doubt we hook up with an 84 turbo every now and again on our way to school my other kimosaabie and I. One time when he had is 84 three door we were tooling along on Route 80 and a newer 93 turbo pulls up next to us and beeps his horn. We then proceeded to converse about the old beauty of a saab we were driving in at highway speeds. It is definitely a cool thing. Wish I could meet up and run a train, sort of a quasi saab driving team expo without the burnouts and reverse gear driving!

haha awsome.

I get lots of waves from other 900 owners. Never got a look from a 9k, and only one wave from a newer Saab which was a 92-X Aero.

There's a 9000 about a half dozen houses down from me. 1.5 blocks away there's a Sonett. There's also a Monte Carlo vert about the same distance. Then, a half mile from my house, there's an SPG; 300 yards later, a regular ol' c900. Another half mile from there, another Monte Carlo (yes, two within about a mile from each other -- I see them nearly every day). Then there's my own notchback & 89T. Seem to be a bunch of these cars in my 'hood.

OK, I know, I'm out of competition because of where I live, but I think it's funny anyway: Our little road is a swedish-car-chauvinist road...

1st house: Volvo XC70 (and a VW transporter)
2nd: Volvo V70 (and a Mitsubishi)
3rd: Old lady w/o car
4th: Saab c900 and Saab NG900 (that's us)
5th: Saab 9000 CS, Saab 9000c, Saab OG9-3, Saab OG9-3 (and a Ford Escort).
6th: Volvo XC70, Volvo V70 (and a VW transporter)
7th: Volvo 240

Sadly, we have the only c900 around.

he probably sings along with the song "I'm a w@nker" as he drives along .... keep being friendly - the world needs it! When I moved from Philly (no one waves at anyone they don't know) to Wichita KS (everyone waves at everyone else on backroads) it really threw me ("what the hell do they WANT???") - but I adapted to being friendly pretty quick.
Hey Mike - so how's Uma doing?

Steve
