i just realized my SAAB is the first car i have owned with two separate tail lights. i much prefer the look of two tails to the one light bar.

Yeah, I've often thought of buying a decor panel from a '95 to put on my '96. I'd have the badge removed and filled in, painted. Shave my emblems. That'd be a nice project. But, don't have the money for appearance mods. Oh well.

I like mine too!
People are pretty divided on this though. At the last meet I went to people were suggesting I replace it with the reflective type. Yuck. But my favorite (what I would consider trading) is the Viggen decor, the plate is between the lights rather than underneath. ![]() ^^My car on the left, Clevesaab in the middle, and Saaboheme on the right^^ Tboy Last edited by Tboy; 05-03-07 at 02:58 PM. |

You need the 2 tail lights and filller pannels that go under the tail lights as well for that.
Clevesaab's car looks great and I love yours as well Tboy especially the kit and Aero wheels. I'm drooling I have a partial Viggen look. Still need the bumper covers to complete the look. I'm modifying my hatch to eliminate that decor reflective pannel. I want to put the license plate in between the tail lights this summer. I love that pannel but hate the way the plate looks under it. It's in an akward place. It ruins the car's look and looks out of place. |

I like the look of the two separate tails, but only if the plate is in between such as on 9-3s. If the plate must be below I prefer the 900se panel personally.
By the way, a 9-3 tailgate will not fit a 900, as the bottom section of a 900 tailgate tapers in (visible on Tboy's picture), while the 9-3 tailgate goes straight down. There may or may not be other differences as well. Tailgate difference visible in this pic I found on google: Last edited by redrum; 05-03-07 at 07:59 PM. |

You'll also need to play with the wires for the high brake light

Im actually referring to the metal section underneath the tail lights. Its very subtle, but there is a difference. You can see on that viggen how it goes straight down, whereas on the 900 it angles inward.

Aha! So they are. In all this time I've never tapped on that spot to notice they are plastic.

Actually I studied the diffrences between the 2 for conversion options and they're very diffrent.
If you want to go with the 9-3 look of 2 corner lights and the plate in between, you can easily do it. Basically you replace the tail gate (complete assembly), tail lights and the plastic filler pieces that go under the tail lights. Be prepared to do some work to fit the washer spray nozzle hose and to adjust the wires to fit with the brake light on top of the hatch instead of just above the decor pannel. If you can get the parts in the same color, you can achieve the conversion for under $500 |
