Just wondering, in my family i have two 9k Carlssons, 1989 2.0 and 1991 2.3,
What i wanted to know is, are the only performance differences between the 2.0 and 2.3 just the engine and its power output or does it have an uprated gearbox etc... i want to put another 2.3 lump in my 2.0 before i start serious power tuning or will the 2.0 be good for around 350bhp? any advise or even opinions would b great. Cheers.. |

My understanding is that there's no difference to the gearboxes in those two models, other than the case. My '91 gearbox certainly feels the same to me as my old '87 did, both in shift quality and ratios. It's not until '94 that there were major improvements. I have heard that there were suspension improvements (stiffer) for 1991, but I'm not positive on that. You will have a long road ahead of you trying to extract 350 HP from that 2.0l. It can be done, but only with a LOT of work and money.
